Idea for simple do it yourself mods (2 part question)
Ok, I was thinking of doing some "do it yourself" mods to my 05 Crew Cab. I already have a new stereo from a King Cab coming so I plan to put that in with an IPOD attachment (i plan to run the wires into the center consol box).
I noticed that on the SE I looked at before I bought my LE it had 4 switches at the bottom by the 4x4, but in my LE i have a cubbie. I would like to buy the set up and put the switches down there so I can use them to turn on/off the mods I want to do.
Question 1. I want the buttons with lights (so you can see them and know if tey are on/off) much like the cargo bay light but they all have words/images on them. Can i somehow get these off and possibly write something of my own on them? please help if you have any ideas.
Question 2. I would like to run some LEDs around, to give some added light inside. Some for detail colors (door handles, under dash, ect) and other for usefull purpose (light in back that doesnt use the roof light, something more direct if someone was like reading or something). Where can I tap into power to run to the switches by the 4x4 button? I was told 12v LEDs would work but i think in some cases they might be 2 bright.
actually here is question 3 i just though of. I would like to connect LEDs to the door handels (inside), one guy on another forum did this and it looked cool but the light was 2 bright. Are there duller amber colored leds? I want some of this to be subtle.
Sorry for the questions but I dont know much about wiring etc. I figured once I get some ideas/plans drawn up, when i go to buy the wires, the people at the store might be able to help me. Thanks all
