Annoying Cricket Chirp

Manual trannies require a the clutch to be disengaged for the starter to be energized. This is achieved by a safety switch which senses the bottoming of the clutch pedal. I have no problems with it as an safety interlock. But it is noisy. Chirps like a cricket on descent and ascent. The noise is not loud, but the shrillness of it irritates the ears. Not quite as bad as Chinese opera but it is almost as grating on your auditory sense.

Off I went to Nissan and they ordered a replacement switch. When installed, it was just as chirpy as the factory installed version.

Do others with a 6M or 5M have this problem? Are there any work-arounds?

05 6-speed. I dont seem to be having a chirping problem.
You know, there are two switches up there on the clutch. One is the saftey interlock, and the other is the CruiseControl disconnect switch(if you have Cruise). Make sure you didnt replace one, and have the other one switch be the one squeeking.

Could try s squirt of dielectric grease. It would lubricate the contacts while not hindering the connection.
