Chip for Radio Change out

Need help identifying and locating a chip that allows me to change out my factory installed radio to my XM satellite radio system without loosing any electonic settings in my new 2005 Nissan Frontier.

Anyone know what chip ID info I need to locate this thing on line somewhere?

Wink

I thought surely someone here would know what chip the audio installation places were using to prevent loss of steering wheels controls and cruise, etc. when replacing a sound/radio system in new Frontier.

Is there another website that would have this info that someone can point me to....?????

The dealership where the Frontier was purchased is giving us alot of static and problems and advising against change out. I know it can be done, obviously, many people on the forum have done it already. I am just trying to help the facility doing my radio and system installation locate the newest chip for the install. They are having trouble as well getting proper info from Nissan and Nissan dealers.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Most cars it is a module, not a "chip". I am not sure how the Nissan setup works. I imagine you can find a new take-out headunit on ebay ready to roll. You would probably need to wire for the antenna though.

The only issue I had after changing out my head unit and all the speakers, adding the ipod interface and satellite radio was a blinking air bag light. This procedure fixed it like a charm.
