I have a 2003 Frontier 2WD that has a constant rattle/clatter noise coming from the engine. Cold, Hot any temperature.

I tried higher octane gas, but that did not work.

Have not noticed and power issues, overheating or anything else, but the noise worries me.

It has 30K mile now.

Any help on this?

Is it there at idle or underway?

Is it there in only one gear, all gears, or in neutral?

Is it a regular or irregular sound?

Does it depend on the engine (or vehicle) speed?

Does it change based on driving conditions (load, outside temperature)?

If it's there at idle have you listened under the hood?

More information would help the diagnosis.
