hay all im new here and im having some big trouble. i just brought my 98 frontier to the inspection station and i passed. well low and behold 5 min after driving away mt check engine light came on,wtf. so i turned around and flipped out cause i never had a light on this truck ever. i asked them to pull the code and he said it was p1448 (dealer code), can any1 please tell me what that code is, and why it came on all of a sudden after my nys inspection? also i had them remove the code and it stayed off for a day then came back on. now my truck is sputtering on the highway,then went away WHATS GOING ON HERE? i am so pissed do u think they could have messed something up when they plugged in there scanners for the inspection? any help would be great. and how do i reset my ecu? thanks,well i tried to retrive some codes by turning the dial on my ecu and my check engine light reads 3 long/9short/7long/5short these are all flashes can some1 please tell me what code that is or what prob that is? the engine is a ka24de. thanks

I don't know if it applies to your '98, but here's what my '04 service manual has on P1448:
Trouble diagnosis name
EVAP canister vent controlvalve open
DTC detecting condition
EVAP canister vent control valve remains opened under specified driving conditions.
Possible cause
EVAP canister vent control valve
EVAP control system pressure sensor and the circuit
Blocked rubber tube to EVAP canister vent control valve
Water separator
EVAP canister is saturated with water
Vacuum cut valve

My '96 manual doesn't show that code but P1447 is for the Evap sys. it is possible that the inspectors did not put the gas cap back on fully. twist the cap and listen for at least 3 clicks, have Autozone pull the code and erase it, test drive to see if it comes back on. I would have to bet on the gas cap, any other troubles are coincidental or broken connectors from reaching around.

hey guys thanks and yeah i was doin some serching and this code is a evap control valve and i reset the ecu and hasent come on yet but im sellin the truck in a few days and i dont want to repair this i saw a tsb on here for the service techs and might try to clean out some of those vac lines. what do u think.? if i bring this to the dealer it could cost some coin ya know.
but at the same time i dont want to screw the next guy.
