2006 nismo dyno

Took it to my local dyno on 87 octane. Only mods are K@n intake. Truck has 33s on it so they probably affected the numbers a little. Not to bad though, another stock nismo dynoed 203whp the other day. Enjoy

Thanks for the data. Torque seems to be very peaky. Rev did a dyno test and showed torque to be rather flat over a wide range of revs. 33 vs 31 in tires cannot affect the torque this much. Any explanation for the difference?

How much did they charge you? My local dyno guy wants about 50 bucks and I don't know what is considered to be reasonable.

Got any graphs with the Air Fuel ratio?

$50 is a resonable rate.

I'm interested in the fact that he used STD correction factor. Most dynos usually quote an SAE correction factor. Using the same STD correction factor as this dyno operator, my truck turned 239 peak RWHP and 238 RW torque.

The whp was 214.8 the other way. Not much difference. Im not sure why the torque falls off. Maybe auto tranny, who knows. Truck seems to pull ok. I raced my friends bone stock one and it was pretty much neck and neck untill I shifted to 4th and he slowly started pulling away. Maybe my lift had someting to do with it.

Ummmm.....
Isn't this Frontier supposed to be developing 265hp? I don't know anything about dyno testing but it seems to be about 50 hp short. Am I missing something? If im not.. thats somewhere in the neighborhood of a 19% horsepower discrepency.
Was thinking about what color I wanted my new Fronty in... but with these results (and that fact I have a good sized boat) I may have to Shift_gears in my thinking.

J- dynos measure rear wheel horsepower, (the power actually getting to the ground after driveline loss etc...) Manufacturers post crank horsepower, because the numbers are higher and more marketable. this is the hp put out from the engine before driveline loss, factors include losing power through the transmission, transfer case (in a 4x4) the whole way back until it gets to the ground. All manufactures post crank or "peak" horsepower so comparing a 265 horsepower nissan would be similar to a 265 hp ford or chevy etc...none of those vehicles are putting 265 hp to the wheels. dont be discouraged

Ohhh, OK. Phew
I thought I was going to have to start my search all over again. , although I am still considering a Ford SuperCrew or Dodge Quad cab. Really like the Nissan though.

using 20% loss (about avg for a auto, and transfercase) reverands numbers put him in the 285hp range... not too shabby all things considered.

and those tires probably made a huge difference - not because the dyno doesn't calculate for them, because it does, but it effects the friction coefficient on the rollers... bigger tires will always make a big difference...
