Hey everyone! New to the site here but I have a 2005 Nismo crew cab frontier.
Question:
I had a wreck on 12/13/05 that resulted in $11,200 damage to my truck. (I ran into the back of a flatbed) Here is my question, Will this wreck and repair void my factory warranty? It was repaired at a licensed repair shop so I'm not sure. Thanks for the help!
I just got my truck back, today actually, and it looks fantastic so i am happy. In fact, I think it drives a little better and quieter than it did before.

Anyway, thanks again!
That's a good question! I would think that as long as they used geniune Nissan parts it would not effect the warranty. Other's may know better than I though... That's a lot of damage! Are you alright? Glad to hear you're happy with the repairs, and welcome a board!

Yeah I'm fine. Thanks for asking! I walked away without a scratch! Still thanking God for that one. I talked with the insurance of the business that owned the truck I hit and he said their trucks get rear ended quite a bit all over the country and 95% of them are fatal. I was coming to work and the truck was stopped behind a line of cars for a school bus and I was blinded by the sun. By the time I saw the truck, it was too late. Let me just tell you that these trucks can handle a head on crash great!! The hood crinkled just as it was suppose to and I am fine as a testament to the safety of this truck!
Anyway, its good to be on board here! I just bought my truck last feb so I'm sure I will be cruising these boards quite a bit! Thanks again!
If the repair parts aren't geniune Nissan parts, Nissan won't cover a failure resulting from one of those parts. However, a non-OEM bumper won't affect the warranty on your transmission, for example. I doubt there are too many aftermarket parts out there for the 05-06 Frontier yet, so they may well be Nissan parts. The total cost of your repairs *SOUNDS* like they used OEM parts.
If your insurance company DID use non-OEM parts and one of them proves to be defective, the insurance company will warranty those parts for some length of time. Your policy should say that all replacement parts will be guaranteed to be "free of defects" and will likely state that all parts will be of "similar quality" to OEM parts. Since all insurance companies don't have the same policy, you should read your policy documents in full -- the policy itself should address the issue.
I would suggest calling your insurance company and quizzing them really hard. Between what they tell you and what your policy actually states, you should be able to frame a pretty good idea of what your rights and limitations are.
Note: If you're ever in a wreck where the other driver is at fault, you can usually muscle his/her insurance company into using only OEM parts because you have the threat of lawsuit to use against them.
