Yesterday as I was driving around town I started noticing a squeak coming from what sounds like the front of the truck. It doesn't sound like it's a belt, or a pulley or anything, because when I am sitting still, or idling there's no sound. It only happens when I go over moderate bumps, or rough road. When I hit something substantial, like a speed bump, there's no noise, but driving down a road with rough pavement, the noise is almost constant. I searched through the other threads, but didn't really find anything like this. Anybody know what this could be? Are there some things I could check before I have to take it to the dealer? It's a 4x4, auto, with about 3.5K miles on it, if that helps at all. Thanks in advance.
When I've had mine offroad going down some really bumpy roads, my dash (or trim near it) will make a constant noise (more of a creak than a squeak?). As soon as I hit the pavement, it stops immediately.
From all the posts I've seen here, the new Frontier seems like a noisy truck (esp. the early production models, like mine).
My truck had a few squeaks too. The first one I tracked down came from the firewall area, the noise came from behind the dash but I actually found the troublemaker in the engine compartment. This noise was intermittent and hard to reproduce. The Nissan mech. was able to reproduce the noise by moving some lines that were attached to the firewall. Evidently, the lines were rubbing the firewall and the lines look like AC lines. He placed a cushion behind the lines so now there is no rubbing and the squeak was gone. The other squeaks have been remedied by various TSBs'. i.e. passenger seat and driver’s window.

My Pathy was doing the same thing. The dealer traced it to the rubber weatherstrip that is on the underside of the hood rubbing against the plastic on the grille. They put some silicone lubricant on it and the squeaks have been gone for 2 days now.

Thanks for all the replies. I let my wife take it to work today (momentary lapse of sanity) so I'll look into the things you all have mentioned when she gets home. If anyone thinks of anything else throw it out, I'll take all the help I can get.
I had a rattle that annoyed me for a month. It sounded like both coming from behind the cluster or in the engine compartment even at idle. One day I took the time to really track the rattle. I pinpointed my rattle coming from the metal air conditioner line on the driver side of the engine where it meets the firewall. There's a metal tab that protrudes form the line with a ground wire attached to it. I noticed it was touching the paint on the firewall and was wearing it down. I carefully pushed the line away from the hood till it had a space between the tab and the paint and wala' the rattle was gone. Hope this is the same problem on your Fronty and let me know if it fixed your problem. SEE PICTURE of the tab that was hitting the firewall and the little spot it was rubbing on the paint.

I know I had a slight squeak coming from the hood latch. Go to your truck and give it a gentle bump on the hood right above the hood hinges (make sure your hood is closed, mine would not make the sound with the hood open) if it squeaks up near the front of the truck, thats what it is. Good luck!

I had a squeak coming from the hood. I adjusted the rubber stops on each side of the underside of the hood and leveled it out where it didn't vibrate and it went away.

Thanks, I tried the other things mentioned here and nothing helped, so I'll give your suggestions a shot tomorrow. I have an appt. at the dealer Mon. morninig, but hopefully I'll be able to call them and cancel if this works.

msu, as noted in a previous post, I had a wreck in my fronty and cost almost 12,000 in repair. They had to replace the hood and I went over the weekend to adjust the rubber stops, as you mentioned, to stop the squeak and my new hood, which is labeled as nissan on the underside of the hood, does not have adjustable stops! Very strange! Do you know if you can adjust the hood latch on the truck any? Thanks!

Ark, you are my new hero! I gave it a bump, and sprayed the latch down with some WD for good measure, and the squeak disappeared. You saved me a trip to the dealer, and for that I owe you my firstborn. Or a beer. Thanks.

No problem....Glad you got it fixed!!!
FYI: I sprayed mine with WD as well and it lasted a week or two and the squeak came back a little (not as bad though). So, you might want to rub a little grease on it or something of that sort.
Oh, with shipping and all that jazz and the fact that I would probably not want to open the beer after being in the mail for awhile, why don't you just have this one for me!
