The first mod everyone should do to their 2005-06 Frontier is new tires. it misted lightly here in San Diego earlier today and caused the roads to be slick. we had not had rain in a long time and the build up of road grime and oil mixed with rain is a deadly combination. i saw 3 accidents on the freeways in my 9 mile trip, each involving no less than 3 cars.
but let me get back on track...as i took the turn on the on ramp, i tap the accelerator slightly (and i mean slightly) and the tail flew out quite a bit and i was forced to correct and straighten out. the General Grabbers are probably the worst tire i have ever owned.
who shares this sentiment? what do you Nismo owners think of your BFG Rugged Trails in the rain?

I'm quite satisfied with the performance of the BF Goodrich tires. They handle well in the rain, and I've had no problems with them in snow either. They will spin on wet roads if I stomp the pedel, but under normal acceleration, I've never had them slip, and certainly haven't experienced what you described happened to you today! If that had happened to me, I think i'd be in the market for some replacement tires as well. Interesting that Nissan has replaced the stock tires on the SE with BF Goodrich Long Trails for 2006, but left the POS Grabblers on the LE!

I have driven in the rain and the snow and I have not had a problem. I did get some tire slippage in the snow, but it was where people had spun their tires creating an icy sur-
face.
With no weight in the bed I am not surprised this happen-
ed.
They're not bad. They will spin when you take off quickly from a stop in the rain though. That's prabaly more a function of horsepower and little weight over the back tires. I could imagine in an area where it normally doesn't rain much and using the General tires would be a bad combination.
I havent had any problems with my grabbers...but of course, I dont think we have had any rain in the 7 months I've had my truck.
While mine was in the shop, I had a '02 CC loaner with BFG A/T k/o's and they seemed less sticky on the road than my grabbers,...but of course, far better off road.
Again...it hasnt rained here in so long, I dont ealy know

it does pretty good in the rain, but not on newly soaked roads. maybe the on ramp that i was on was extra slick.

How many miles do you have on the Grabbers? I have 12k on mine and (knock wood) they've done well in rain and the light snow we get here in Central VA. I hope they'll continue to do OK, but, I think I'll have less and less confidence in them as the miles go up. I have never really heard any good comments about them.

i turned 5000 miles on my way home from lunch. i want to get rid of them but i have a hard time changing them out since they are so new. maybe i should do it soon so i can get the most money out of them and help pay for the new treads.

Goodrich makes great tires, but my cousin, who owns a tire store/shop, recommended the Nitto Terra Grapplers for mine; they were much cheaper than the Goodrichs (about $125 each) and look & ride great; traction is very good, not much road noise & they take corners very well.....just a thought when thinking of changing tires....best mod I have done, except for the K&N Series 63.....

Wow, I would have thought they'd do better with that little tread used. Other truck buyers might not want them, but if they fit vans & SUVs (something with a little more weight in the rear) or even sedans then you may have enough of a market for them to take the sting out of buying brand new ones.

Could try the old trick of tossing weight in the back like a couple sacks of sand. Just make sure they are tied down so they don't fly through the cab's rear window if you are in an accident. This nearly happened to me in the winter with two 50lb bags of sand flew that were frozen solid.

doesnt rain here enough to do this. i had BFG All Terrains on my last truck and they worked well in the rain surprisingly enough.

I dont have a 04-06 frontier, but I do have an '03. It has a BFG long terrain tire on it, not the best but handles well in the rain and snow. not much of a mudding tire though.
The tread pattern is not that aggressive as shown:
But the are suppossed to last a long time and seem to do alright for me.
