While the coils do not reduce travel, they move you down in the factory travel range so you have less droop.

I'm still not sure how these are supposed to be better for the steering and driveline components than spacers are. It doesnt seem to me that the spacers allow that much more droop before the a-arm hits the coil bucket (and the new spacers don't have that problem so I'm not sure how much more downward travel you have from the maximum extension in stock form anyway).

I'm probably wrong but it seems to me that the spacers would allow about the same amount of travel (as factory) but just move the whole range down while the coils also allow the same amount of travel but they dont move it from where it is from the factory, they just move your starting position down in the range).

I also got a reply when I emailed about these that a 3" body lift is required with the coils to fit 33's. Not sure why you can fit 33's with the 2" spacers but not with 2-1/2" longer coils...maybe a stuffing issue?

Bah, now I dont know what I'm gonna do...

i think you are mostly right. the spacers limit the space between the coil bucket and upper a-arm but dont move the spring. these coils move the coil bucket by virtue of their length but may be just as close as the spacers do. i suppose the reason the coil bucket doesnt hit the upper a-arm is because they are slightly stiffer.

i am still waiting on PRG to make their a-arms before i modify the suspension. seems the upper a-arms are a limiting factor of the stock suspension. if i read the 4x4parts.com website correctly, the coils will work with aftermarket a-arms.

I would have thought that but I dont think the coils move the coil bucket, I think they just maintain factory range of travel so at full droop, the upper a-arm wont hit the bucket. I have an e-mail from Mike at A/C and he says the shock is the limiting factor. I dont think the a-arms will do much with the coils since the a-arms dont hit the coil bucket with the longer coils like they do with the spacers.

I've read a couple of the write-ups for the PRG kits and cant determine if the upper shock mount gets moved. If it does, that would explain why the a-arm can hit the coil bucket if the shock is the limiting factor.

My problem is that as much as I want to wait for the modifed a-arms, I dont think I'll have the $500 for them. Would be nice to be able to get them and go 3" to 3-1/2" though...

$500, really? i really hope that it doesnt cost that much. the simple suspension lifts on 4x4parts.com dont even cost that much. if that is the case, i too am stuck on what to do in order to lift the Frontier.

I tend to be a pessimist so I look at worst case when I'm planning my money. I dont think I'll be doing anything until they come out and we have a 'real' cost for them.

i hear ya. the aftermarket needs to catch up. i suppose there isnt quite a demand for it right now.
