Special Buy - Airaid CAI - 05/06 Frontier/Pathfinder/Xterra
Okay, I’ve been talking with David Edelman from Premier Trucks, and he has agreed to offer a special price on the new Airaid CAI for the 05/06 Frontier/Pathfinder/Xterra. This is not really a group buy, because there is no minimum number of participants required. So, from now until January 31st, you can contact David at Premier Trucks and purchase the Airaid CAI for $170.00, which includes shipping. Here is a Link to the Airaid web site with information about the Intake:
wow! that's a good price. i hope the airaid performs as good as they claim. good luck to Paul and others with this kit.

Does anyone have one of these? any good reports from members? Is this better then the K&N CIA's?
Hopeing to have some opinions soon! When I had my F-150, the Airaid was the choice of most owners on the F-150 On-line Forum. It also came highly recommended by the SuperChips dealer who sold complete performance kits for the F-150. His kits were custom tuned for the Airaid Intake and the MagnaFlow Cat back Exhaust. Many, many excellent reviews! He also drag raced semi-pro, so I trusted he knew quite a bit about what he was talking about! Granted I'm comparing a Ford with a Nissan, but the basic concept of opening up the airway is still the same!
Another reason I really like the airaid set-up for the Frontier is the ease of installation, and the potential for a quick swap back to stock, should the need ever arise, i.e. a trip to the dealer for an intake related issue. If it's back to stock, they can't pull any crap about the aftermarket intake causing the problem!

I see it's much like the aFe CAI, except the filter is closed on the end, whereas the aFe is open. I would think the airflow is 'more' with the aFe. Price is about 15-20 dollars more for the aFe, as well.

I also noticed the closed end, but on direct comparison of photos, it looks like the Airaid filter is longer. Hopefully, the surface area is similar....I'll take the horses, but mostly I want the noise. It's hard to find a sweeter sound than a 6-pot at full tilt breathing through one of these things!

Ahhhhhhhh... the noise, indeed! I guess, all the CAIs probably sound about the same. The aFe, I know, sounds fantastic!

Greg,
You been able to keep your foot out of the floorboards long enough to see if the intake has helped with your gas mileage?
Have you decided on an exhaust yet? I just got my truck back this morning from having it undercoated. All the flippen salt they've been dumping on the roads here lately has me paranoid! Anyway, it added a bit more sound deadening to the underside of the truck, and now it's back to sounding stock (until I step on it anyway! ). I'm really liking the Banks now!
I'm about to break down and get the intake as well! I'm still on the fence between the aFe and the Airaid! I like the idea of the open end on the aFe, but really like the simplistic install and un-install capability of the Airaid! If it hadn't been for a bad experience with an Intake on my F-150 and the dealership I went to, I'd probably go with the aFe!
But then again, someone has to take the plunge and try these new products! I was first in on the Banks, might as well, be the guinea pig for the Airaid as well! Besides, the red filter on the Airaid matches my truck!

the sales manager at the store i purchased my afe from confirmed that i would get better flow with the afe than with the airaid. the one benefit of going with the airaid is the potential to use it with their throtte body spacer for even better flow. (although, i dont see why i couldnt use it with the afe kit since most of the stock tubing between the maf and throtte body are retained)
but i digress. the sound is awesome and i am very pleased. i hoping to see an increase in gas mileage , but i will wait one tank though since i am still having fun with it. next mod...custom exhaust...2.5" mandrel bent piping to a 50 series suv (flowmaster).

Hi Paul! I have been taking it a bit easier on the throttle. But; not enough yet to tell if I will be gaining any gas mileage.
As far as an install goes, The aFe is just as easy, I am sure as the newly mentioned CAI. The aFe quality is first rate. And; I'm not so sure how good that looks leaving the bottom of the airbox in place with this new CAI. The aFe is simple, clean, and has a really big open ended cone filter. It is a nice addition to my Frontier, any way.
Concerning an exhaust; that will be in the future.
