I just bought, as in 3 hours ago (3:00 PM EST), a used 2005 Frontier SE CC 4x4 with 4,000 miles on it. I hate not having the roof racks on it and have found out through a search of this forum that I can't get the factory racks put on. So I went to Thule and Yakimas web sites and tried to cofigure a setup for my new truck and both sites tell me that they are not available. I have read some other posts on here where people talk about aftermarket racks, but don't mention brands. If there is a way to use Yakima and/or Thule stuff, does anyone know the parts that are needed to fit an '05?

These are the ones I found on autoanything.com. What all are you going to be hauling?
Thanks for the sites, I will check them out!
Starting the first weekend of January I will be going snowboarding (northeast PA) every weekend for 3 months, so the racks will be for skis and snowboards and in the bed will be luggage and what not.

That would be just about 180 miles from me, which would be about 4 hours due to having to go through north Jersey and deal with the nightmare New York City traffic up there.
But it is nice to know that Thule is working on it. Thanks for the info though

i think a free rack is def worth 4 hours of driving...
I don't know if this is true but when I was shopping for my 05 Crew Cab early this year, the sales man told me that in years past, Nissan wouldn't let them install or that they could not install factory roof racks. However, he said that starting with the 05's they did have the ability to install the roof rack. It didn't matter to me at the time since I went with the NISMO with the sunroof which comes with the roof rack. But anyway, you may want to just confirm with one or two of the dealers in your area.

I checked with the Nissan dealer when I purchased the vehicle, and as of right now, the racks are not even available as an accessory for their parts department to order. The guy in parts seemed to think that it is going to become available sometime next year due to the redesign being new for 2005.

Depends on what is required. If they could do everything in one day, that might be worth it. But the website makes it seem like they would need it for a few days of testing. So them we are talking $ for hotel, meals, and miscellaneous expenses. Maybe I will email the contact on the website to see exactly what would be required.
