Got my first oil change monday and I noticed for the first time that my oil pressure gauge fluctuates. When at complete idle, the needle drops to just above the line of normal. When at more than idle, even a little tap, it is steady in the middle. I had thought it was in the middle all the time, but now I am not sure, what does your pressure gauge do? I kept hearing a ticking, so I thought I would check the oil level and wouldn't you know it, I had to add 2 quarts! I was furious, called the dealer and they apologized and offered another freebie (like that is gonna happen). I added the oil and I still get the tick at idle and the lower pressure reading.
Do some of you experience a tick at idle? Very subtle, but there?
Does your oil pressure gauge fluctuate between idle and "not idle?"

Geez... and people wonder why I dont trust the dealer to do something as simple as an oil change!!! That is shockingly sad news. Missing the oil quantity by 2 qts is just plain awful. It sounds like you caught it rather soon so hopefully youre fine. I'd make sure the dealership notes it on your records so if you ever have a problem you can quote them on it.

It would be even better if they would send you a letter documenting their mistake. Of course that will never happen. The first time I went to my dealer for an oil change, I made sure they saw me double checking their work when I picked the car up. Now they know I'm knowledgable and that I'm watching them.
one reason i always change the oil myself. it's really not that hard, takes me 15 min at most, if you can it might just be a better idea to do it yourself. that way you know it's done right. anytime i have to take my truck a shop for any reason i always double check there work before i leave.
My oil pressure fluxuates hugely... When tis cold, and I hit it, I've actually seen it hit that top tick ( Only did it once). When its warm and its idling , mine will be in the lower 1/4 of the dial.....

I am in the eastern shore of NC. Thanks to all for the replies and for "easing my mind." I did end up writing a letter to the service manager, copying the owner and for my files just in case. They were a great dealer to work with on the sale, just after the fact, service was horrible. I get fliers for stuff that is partially copied on a cheap copy machine and form letters from the saleman that are poorly written. I got a GREAT deal, but will be moving to another dealer for warrantly work and service.
I will try to research threads on oil changes, I know I saw some, but for the V6, is the filter easy to get to? I don't want to add any extenders or anything and might have to get around the nismo skid plates(?). Again, thanks! Merry Christmas, happy holidays and Okrismesa iwa & Omude Mupe wa Punikwa
Nissan put this little "flap" in the front skid/splash plate that in theory is supposed to give you enough access to remove the oil filter. You can get your hand in there, but there isnt enough room to really grab hold of the filter or even use a cap wrench.
The solution is to remove the whole plate (about 6 screws). That makes your life a whole lot easier.
The rest of the design is rather ingenious. They put a little drain channel under the filter that drains to a nice thin stream so that you dont make a huge mess when you remove the filter.
The oil pan also looks really small, but the motor takes over 5 quarts.

I was able to get my hand and wrench on the filter without removing the whole skid plate by reaching up from the right side. I removed the small "flap" you mention only for the oil to spill through.

From the passenger wheel well? Hmm I'll have to try that next time. If that flap is just for the drain that would make a lot of sense. On my first oil change I spent the first 15 minutes just trying to find the damn filter
