I did the same sort of thing, only with my front bumper cover, not proud of it, but hey, sh*t happens. One thing I learned though, DONT go to the body shop and pay out of pocket. Most quoted me about $500 to just do a little sanding, prep, and painting. I found the least expensive (and somewhat professional) way to go was just to get the raw parts on ebay or other places, and just get the paint shot onto them. Also, just get some hand tools and do the install yourself. Saved myself 250 bucks and the bumper looks like it came fresh out of the factory.
