such a pic whore!! haha jk. Looks good. Hopefuly I will have some time during during break to wax up my truck and take some good pictures.
Ha!! Do a clay bar treatment first, if you have never done one. I still cannot get over how smooth the paint is now.
It only took a little over an hour to do.

which clay bar did you use? And did it get rid of the damn bugs Imbedded in the paint?
I used 'Clay Magic'. The bugs in the clear coat, I am not sure there is even a cure for that. It sucks! And; I hate them!!!!
However; on this truck, I don't have that problem yet. And; I hope, with proper care, I can avoid it happening. It's a bitch!
I think the only way to avoid it is to wash the front of the vehicle when you park it. And; the Sun will bake the damn bug juice, too. It's like it fossilizes.
I have seen clay bar treatment 'not' remove it. It eats into the clearcoat.

Truck looks great. Mine is so dirty cause its so darn cold here I can't wash it.
I have heard that if you saturate the bugs with petroleum jelly and let it sit for a whle it softens them enough to get them off. Might even work on the fossils.

After a thorough cleaning, the best thing is to apply generous wax over the front fascia. This way the bugs stick to the wax and not the clear coat. Washing it off can be a little tedious though. A little insulation helps.

I tryed clay, it was great. But do you guys have a good way to get it out from the undercarriage?
And I just dont know about how much it does for the finish.

That looks great! I don't have the drive to detail a car like I used to (30 year ago); guess I've gotten lazy. I'll probably clean mine someday (I haven't even waxed it yet). You've probably seen your share of Meguairs/Zaino debates I guess. I used both on my black Corvette and was just amazed at how the Zaino made it look. It made it look great where the paint was good, but it really seemed to bring out the blemishes. Today's paint is loaded with orange peel. I never thought my Corvette had that, but you could see wrinkles in the paint after the Zaino. It's expensive, but if you like to detail, you may want to give it a shot.

I agree! Defense is the best protection. Also; it doesn't hurt to wipe the bugs off after driving home that evening. Or; even when you arrive to work in the morning. The longer that acidic bug juice sits, the harder it is to get off.

Remember; it only took from around 7:30am to about 3:30pm to do it all. It was fun! And; it was painless!
Not to mention; after claying, the next time you wax, it will be that much easier.
Many folks clay each time they wax. Not a bad idea. I might get into that habit, myself. I figure, I will wax 3-4 times per year.

While we're on the topic of keeping your paint jobs looking good, did any of you get the perma plate option for your paint? I did, and was wondering if you all think it's worth it, or did I just waste more of my hard earned dough?

I used a good sealant(Profection W/PTFE[teflon]) for my first "wax" job and am amazed how good it works.Dont even need soap to wash(just water)and even baked on bugs come right off.Newer vehicles shouldnt need clay treatment.
