Hey folks. Today, my truck started doing some odd things. Acceleration was slugginsh until the vehicle passed 2500 rpm. And the engine would stall out at idle or have a loping idle whenever the vehicle had just come off running speed (for instance, when pulling up to a stop light after driving for a minute or so).
Well, I sprayed a bunch of TB cleaner into the IACV hole, and I shot some electrical connection cleaner into the MAF hole. The engine seems to be running a lot better, but I am expecting the worst to happen soon. Any suggestions on stuff that could cause this symptom?
Thanks. What does an EGR vavle sell for these days? And how can you tell if one has failed?
The odd part about the stalling is that it never set off the check engine light.
For the record, the truck is running great.
egr should be less than a bill, been a while since i priced one.
but be sure and check it first. i have seen this problem before WITHOUT mil illuminating. when you pull it,check for lots of carbon build-up and also gently push on the diaphram and see if it moves. or use a mighty-vac.

Thanks. The problem has come back, but not nearly as consistent as before. We had a cold front come through yesterday, so I have stopped using the AC. I guess without the compressor running taxing the engine's power, the symptom is a little less noticeable.

After driving around with the stall getting worse, I finally bounced (more like flopped) into action. Last night, I took my friend's advice and changed the fuel filter. I didn't think this would fix the problem because the fuel filter was only about 20k miles old. When i finally got the thing out (I hate where/how they fitted it into the engine compartment), I knew that it was likely the cause of my truck's problems. The filter was almost totally blocked up, and it was full of mucky brown gas. I drove it around last night with no stalls or hesitation, and then I drove to work today with the same results. Looks like I won't be buying my gas/mud at the neighborhood convenience store anymore.
