air filter replacement

I have a 2000 fronty cc 4x4 3.3L and want to get rid of the air filter box and replace it with a nicer looking conical filter. I have some ?'s

1. What do I do with the AIT sensor?

2. There is a vacuum hose attached to the top of the air filter box, what is it and what do I do with it?

careful with the cones,,,maf doesnt do well coated in oil.

I understand that, but what is the vacuum hose that is attached to the top of the box.
