06 Frontier xe kc- PINGING

Is there a solution for the PINGING besides 91 octane gas. Because, I am really unhappy with the way this truck sounds and performs. It pings everytime I step on the gas and for a 4-banger I am getting under 20mpg, but thats another story. It says in the manual that 87 octane is recommended.

Does anyone think the dealer would take it back? I have 1500 miles on it.

I HIGHLY doubt they'd "take it back"

Would a cooler spark plug help?

You've only got 1500 miles on it, the mileage your getting now is not what you will get with 6,000 miles on it. Let it open up a bit. You could try 89, that usually is enough to clear up any pinging..
