Pinging in 2.5 engine. Yours too?

My engine pings all the time. I am wondering how many others have the same problem. I have a 2005 with the 2.5 and 5 speed.

If by pinging, do you mean valve clatter? If so, more gas, less clutch.

Mines brand new and it has what seems to me a heat shield rattle, and a slight pinging, and kinda sounds like a deisel when accelerating, heres how I fixed it....................I installed an 8" JL w3 and a new deck, soon to do speakers, after I did that to my suprise I cant hear the sounds anymore!!!!

In all seriousness, I am in the industry, and I know not much will happen if I take it to the dealer this early in its life, so Im going to wait until the problems become more prevalent and then take it in.

I just purchased an 06 XE KC 2.5 and it pings every time I touch the gas pedal. I saw an earlier post about 91 octane gas making the Ping go away. But, I dont plan on running anything other than 87 octane in this 4 banger, so I guess I have to deal with the ping.

MY truck does the same thing. The dealer asked that I try premium to see if it goes away. I have a tank full now and it seems to do the job. If this works out my dealer thinks they can just retard the timing a bit to run on regular. They did check and the timing is at the factory default.
