I have had my new King Cab V6 auto nismo now for just over 3 weeks and 1500 miles and I have a couple of questions. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Brake light switch - The switch at the pedal has a very annoying click everytime you step on it and clicks when you release it as well. It's not loud, but I hear it and in city traffic, it is more annoying than anything. Do you hear a click and do you think this is replaceable?
Road noise - Between 61/62mph and 65, I hear and feel a vibration in the suspension or drive train that is a constant in and out every second or so. Like a rumble of sorts. I am taking it in for this (and above I hope) and I guess I am seeking thoughts on where to point them before they tell me they cannot reproduce it. It is a highway noise and I would have to take them out a bit to force the issue. I was thinking a bad tire or alignment, but the rumble is timed almost everything slow one thousand one, one thousand two, etc. where the tire spins much faster. Drive train maybe?
Intermittent rattle in dash - I did have it in for this, it was not reproducible at time of service, but every so often I have a bad rattle behind the radio. It only happens at idle while in drive when the fan is off. If I turn the fan on, I hear a small "plasticie" clunk and it goes away. It sounds like the flapper that directs the air between the front vents and the window defrosters. They will not pull the dash until it happens so they can diagnose. Have you experienced this? I am getting ready to change out the radio, hoping I can have access then.
Nerf bars - Not really service but.... A local shop has a "hardly used" set of nerf bars for a crew cab, stock, at half price. I have a king cab and other than the out of place flat step, I asked if it would fit and all he can tell me is "it's not in the book." Can you tell me if the bolt pattern is the same between the CC and KC for the nerf bars? They won't let me take it out to check.
That's it. Thanks again, appreciate any pointers or advise.

I have a NISMO KC with about 2500 miles. I have never noticed a clicking from the brake pedel, but now that you've mentioned it, I probably will... Thanks! (Just kidding)
I have not noticed any vibration at highway speed either, although I do have a noticable hopping type vibration at around 40 mph, I suspect it is drive line related, but's it's very slight, and I'm probably more sensitive to it than any service manager and I'm sure it will be un-reproducable as well!
I have read that there is a wiring bundle under the dash above the gas and brake pedel that has been a source of a rattle for other owners. They've used a tie strap to secure the bundle and it cured the problem. Again, I've not noticed and rattle other than my keys hitting the dash!
As for the nerf bars, I'd have to measure mine and see the length, but I suspect the CC model would be longer being as the cab is longer. This might not be an issue if the bolt pattern is the same, as it would just extend back into the bed area a bit more than the KC step bars would. I'll try and measure the distance from the front and back of my bars, the over all length, and the distance betwee the brackets tonight and post the results for you. Then you can take those measurements and see if they match the bars they have on sale. I can't believe they won't let you take them out and look to see if they would work, it would only take a minute because the bolts are already under the truck, and if they aligned with the holes in the step, they'd probably have a sale!

I have noticed the same rumble in my truck at the speeds you mention. Kind of a shudder through the drivetrain steadily every second or so. At first I thought it was the road I was on but now I notice it more and more. It's some sort of resonant frequency between the tires, drivetrain, and engine somewhere
-- A/C on or off doesn't make a difference.
-- Tried turning off the O/D to kick the rpms up and it lessened a little but didn't go away. Tells me it's drivetrain/speed related rather than engine.
-- With the cruise control on it seems to be worst when traveling at a steady speed and lessens as the cruise revs the engine or coasts to maintain speed.
Some easy possibilities I haven't had time to check yet -- engine oil level, tire pressure, and check that lug nuts are all tight. Bad or loose motor mount??
If you would please let me know what you find out (if anything). I would appreciate it, and I'll do the same for you. I have a service appt coming up and I'll ask about it.

Hit the nail on the head! My appt is this morning, will advise.
I'm guessing a tire (or two) is out of alignment. A solid frame vehicle with a large open cab can really amplify NVH issues. Do check the pressure. Often vehicles for sale on the dealership lot will have low tire pressure to ensure the ride is "soft as possible" for the prospective buyers. Mine were all at 29-30lbs when I bought my truck. A less likely culprit would be a drive shaft out of balance. It's not especially common but it can cause these exact symptoms. The stock, main drive shaft looks aluminum (which is actually a pricey upgrade from the old steel ones if that's true) and less likely to be out of alignment. If all fails though, they can unbolt it, give it a quarter turn and you can see if it has any impact on the NVH.
Appointment this morning, service manager went on the road and verified the issue. Rotated and balanced the tires, seems to have gotten "better" but still not 100%. It could be just me though "wanting" to hear the sound and feel the vibration, paying too much attention. Will give it a week.

Thanks a bunch. I'm away from home but I'll be home tomorrow to check the tires. My appt is next Saturday so I'll let you know what happens.

Took a road trip and it is not fixed via balancing of tires. There was a 5 mph range and it is not as wide anymore, now 61 to 63 or so, but when I do hit that sweetspot, it is worse. Argh!
60mph - 65mph vibration (was Couple of questions, service related)

Continues to do it, took it back in yesterday, said all tires were 3 to 5 pounds under pressure (they weren't 3 days earlier) and gave me some story about the front left different than the right rear in pressure. Traveled on the road with him, seemed to be better, but steady 30mph crosswind on a bumpy road didn't help. Get in this am and hit the road to work, it is still there.
Can a bad tire, wheel or alignment cause this? I was thinking about taking it to a shop with some more expertise in diagnosing driveline issues.
It's a shame you re not closer as I have a like new set of
factory nerf bars I took off of my LE KC when I put the Manik ss bars on my truck.
I cannot tell you if the CC bars will work on the KC, but the
Manik bars were longer than the factory bars and they bolted up just fine.
My guess would be that they would work. Won't they let you at least take a measurement of the brackets on the CC
bars and you can then measure you brackets to verify if they will fit or not? If they won't let you measure the brackets on their nerf bars then they don't want to sell them very badly.

So close, yet so far, would give me a great reason to drive back home to KC. Go Chiefs! Thanks
