Question Exhaust Suggestions

I'm looking for a deep (not obnoxiously loud or cheap sounding) throaty exhaust for my 05 CC...any suggestions from the link below? These are the best prices I've found on the web so far...

louder, but not loud

I'd suggest getting a basic "turbo" glass pack muffler, but of the more traditional reversing flow configuration as opposed to the strait pipe style. Magna flow makes one for about 30 bucks available at several auto parts warehouses. Another option is to get a good ole Flowmaster for about $100. Either way you go, you should replace ONE of the many mufflers in the exhaust system and just leave all the other mufflers/resonators in place. The new muffler alone will be too loud (in my experience) and will probably resonate badly at a very specific RPM range; I found these qualities to be annoying. But if you leave everything else in its place it should sound pretty good. Remember, if you don't like it, you can cut out existing bits for free or cheap, but it's very expensive to test drive several different mufflers. Also try listening to other cars and trucks on the street and when you hear what you like start looking for after market parts or "performance" stickers. Don't forget to consider what the vehicle probably sounded like when stock and exactly how you think the new stuff might have changed its sound. It may seem a little weird to do, but also try simply walking up to someone in a parking lot who's car sounded right and tell them of your quest to find the perfect note; I know that it often just makes some dude's day to tell him that you appreciate his ride and ask how did he achieve it. they tend to look at you funny for a minute, but once they figure out that you're not asking them for money then they just get interested or excited. Remember, most people are happy to help another as long as it's free. Case in point; this very website.
Good luck!
Johnny

I had a good ol' Flowmaster 40 series installed, just had my stock cut out and the flow installed 97 bucks out the door with a new hanger and extension tube (flow is shorter than stock muffler) It is a deep sound with accelleration, cab resonance is tolerable and sound is quiet at idle. 2000 rpm is where it sounds the deepest, there are definitely cheaper alternatives that will get you the same effect I'm just partial to Flowmaster and Mountain Dew LOL

I too am in the market for a nice deep not too loud exhaust
system for my '05 LE KC. I have been waiting for the Magnaflow catback system which still is not available.

My local muffler shop has an 18" Magnaflow on a Ranger V-6 and it has a nice exhaust note, but it is a little too loud for me and sounds a little raspy at the rear.

I had a Flow Master on my 2000 Frontier XE 4 cylinder and
it had a very deep sound to it. It was great around town, but on long trips it was just too noisy in the cab.

Leaving the small resonator at the rear might cure that problem and then it would be okay.

I have been waiting since March to get an exhaust system
so I am not going to wait for the Magnaflow any longer.

I am going to Kinney's Muffler in Bedford, Texas next friday
and having a custom exhaust done. They have over 500 sound clips from different installations to listen to. There
are 3 of the Nissan Frontier and may be 4 after I have mine done if I do not choose one of the 3 they already have.

They can do a single in, single out, single in dual out, and
a dual in dual out. If they can get the right sound I'll pro-
bably go with the true duals just as StormTrooperDFW has
done on his.

Their web site is www.kinneysmuffler.com. I have never
seen so many tips available before.

I have heard nothing but good about them from the forums
but I shall be able to agree or disagree after next friday.

They have pictures of a lot of their installations on their web site. Check out under results and then go to the un-
der body site and look at the picture on the far right.

The gloss black tailpipes are great looking, I am thinking of going that route.

By the way, I have ordered from Autoanything and had good luck with them.

Good luck in your search.
