Question 95 KA24E Motor Rebuild

I have decided to rebuild my ole' 95 ext cab pu, 5 spd 4 cyl. Any suggestions as to modifications that I can make while rebuilding the motor for more HP or more Gas mileage, Both would be nice......;-)

Hmm... There aren't alot of engine mods floating around out there. This is a perfect time to get a different engine.

Option 1. You might want to see if you can buy a complete engine off a 1 to 3-year old Fronty. From what I undersatnd, they get better gas mileage than our mid-90s HBs. The engines are the same, but the difference is probably in the sensors, ECU, injectors, etc. So I say by the whole kit and kaboodle.

Option 2. Drop in an engine from a 240sx. Better HP, probably the same MPG. Better yet, get that juiced up turbo that the 240 guys like to swap for.

Option 3. Import a complete diesel engine and tranny from europe, S. America, or Asia. Like the other ones, you will need to buy the complete set because this puppy has a different type of fuel system. Make sure you get everything including the starters, alt, tranny, exhause manifolds, cats, etc. And don't bother even trying this if you have to contend with state emissions inspections.

SR20DET or RB20DET, common swaps into 240's. if ya decide to do it my personal opinion would be piss on the SR and get the RB.

somewhere floating around there is a twin turbo kit for the KA.
i don't actually know where. and to add insult to injury, give the old hardbody some new paint, rims, drop the s'pension and switch the rears to discs. gotta stop too.

here's a LENGTHY discussion about turboing your engine. These guys pull it off inside the cramped hoodspace of a 240, so you should manage to do it in an HB pretty easily (yeah right).
