looking at a new truck

Hello. i'm new here looking to buy a new frontier. I've been looking at either a 2004 or 2005 with the 4 cyl, how do the 2.4 L in the 04 compair to the 2.5L in the 05. i found a local king cab at the dealership it's an 04 with 24k miles 4 cyl 5 speed manual tranny, power windows, locks, a/c. they where asking 15,900 i ve gotten them down to 13,700 on the phone going to look at it tomorrow, any known problems with them ? anything i should look for or ask for ? also what price do you think is fair for a truck? thanks again for all your help.

Hi, I work at a Nissan dealership and you can't get a 2.4 in an '05 Frontier any more.

i know it's no longer in the 05's thats why i asked how it compairs to the new 2.5 L offered in the 05's the truck i mentions was an 04, if i can fine an 04 with low miles and a great price i will go that route.

That sounds high for a used 04 to me. The base price for a brand new 05 is 15.8K and they're motivated to move them. I'm biased toward the 05's because I have one but the previous Frontiers are awesome too. Here's some quick specs I found (the weight surprised me):

2004 2.4L 143hp & 154tq
Specification ext. cab
Wheelbase, in.116.1
Overall Length, in. 196.1
Overall Width, in. 71.9
Overall Height, in. 65.9
Curb Weight, lbs. 3685
Fuel Capacity, gals. 15.9
Front Head Room, in.39.3
Max. Front Leg Room, in. 41.4

2005 2.5L 154hp & 173tq
Specification King Cab
Wheelbase 125.9
Overall length 205.5
Overall width — without mirrors 72.8
Overall height 69.7
Curb Weight, lbs 3675
Fuel tank (gals.) 21.1
Front Head Room 39.7
Max. Front Leg Room 42.4

Personally, I'd hold out for an 05. There are a significant number of positive changes in the 05's (not that the 04's aren't nice trucks). I'd almost be willing to bet you could get a new one (05) off the lot for close to 13.8K (your market may vary).

are you buying the 4 cyl for gas mileage? if not, the price difference is worth it for the 4.0L V6...

yea more or less the better gas mileage since i will do alot of driving, but still wanted a truck. i picked up an 05 last night after driving both i was alot more impressed with the 05, my brother bought a fully loaded 05 frontier 4wd v6 4x4 which got me looking at them. my plans are to leave this truck as close to stock as possible. i really have no need for a v6 in this truck which is why i went for the 4 cyl, and 2 wd since i would prob never use 4wd.

my other truck has a V6 ( not stock) that will run circles around the 4.0L if i feel the need to go fast and it gets 19 mpg if you drive normally another reason i wanted the 2.5L i know it will never be fast so i'll leave it alone.
