I'm going to look into this and see how much it cost.
seeing that its a aluminum mandrel bent, thats up there in price.

well, if someone does install a K&N CAI, please submit your reviews.
basically it looks the same except that they use a longer aluminum pipe.
that might be the advantage. less air drag. smoother flow.

you mean attract less heat as the air passes thru?
or create more heat because its an aluminum pipe?
Not to put words in AZLS1's mouth, but I think he means the aluminum is going to absorb heat from the engine compartment and that heat will be transferred to the incoming air.
I've always wondered whether plastic is a better insulator (say from engine compartment heat) than aluminum. My guess would be that it is just based on its density, but I'm still trying to find good info on the Web to back that guess up.
Anyway, I know shiny is nice, but I've often wondered why they don't make those intake tubes with some kind of insulating material (like header tape) on them to keep even more of the engine heat out of the incoming air. Maybe it's just not that big of a problem.

Jerry is correct. The air doesn't spend much time in the pipe but it is definately going to be much hotter after hard driving. I am sure the HP difference is small, but for the money I want the best possible parts.
