2000 Frontier Hesitates - Help!

My 2000 Frontier (4 cyl & auto) has started to hesitate when I step on the gas from a stop. I also notice a little hesitation at about 1500 rpms when going along in 4th gear about 25 mph.

Any ideas as to what could be wrong or where to start looking? BTW, the check engine light is not on - yet.

Thanks!
Bill

How about the fuel filter? Air filter? How many miles? Other tune-up parts should be OK unless it's got a lot of miles on it.

I agree...start with a basic tune up... spark plugs and wires... fuel filter...air filter...etc...

Sounds like fuel filter from the description... but can't hurt to do the rest while you're at it.
