Question.. My wife and I purchased an 05 Nismo about 4 months ago. Recently with the hot weather, we have been experiencing a "Hot start" problem. The problem is similiar to a "Vapor Lock" condition in old cars with a carb. After the engine has been driven when it's hot, (Ambient temp 95+) and sits for about 45 mins to an hour, there is a long crank time, (Approx 5 seconds) before it starts. We took it in yesterday, and as expected, the Service MGR stated that they cannot re-duplicate the problem. Any suggestions??

Rick..
Starter "Heat Soak" (I guess that's the expression) can be a problem with the 350 Chevy in the C3 Corvettes. I never had the problem, but others said that if the starter got really hot (from the engine+exhaust+ambient temp) it would be very difficult to start the vehicle (they'd usually have to let it cool down). I haven't heard of that being a problem with the Frontiers but who knows. Maybe it could be a weak starter or a bad ground. Just a thought.

Rick..
Is it correct to assume the starter is cranking fine, it just does not fire up?
Did you gas up at any place different from normal?
Sounds possbily like a fuel filter or maybe moisture, but that is just a wild guess.

Yes, it cranks over fine, just doesn't fire right up. The starter spins fast and freely.
when you put the key in, try turning it to on, then waiting 1-2 seconds before starting (letting the fuel system prime itself) i know that my '04 rarely does this, but sometimes it does
also might be worth checking the cap to make sure it's getting a good/decent seal and that it's tight
