TRANSMISSON COOLER

Question on the factory installed trans cooler on my 05 SE CC. Was the installed separate trans cooler (located on the passenger side forward of the A/C condenser) included to handle towing duties or is it needed just to cool the trans fluid during non towing driving? I tow a 5,000 Lb trailer and a 3,500 Lb boat frequently. In the past I've added an aftermarket cooler to help cool and hopefully increase the life of the trans. There is plenty of room just below the factory trans cooler for an aftermarket, if its needed. Thoughts?

Was the trans cooler part of a "towing package"? If so, I would think it'd be able to handle it.

That said, the cooler you can keep an auto tranny's fluid, the better.

TRANSMISSON COOLER

I didn't get a "tow package" with my Frontier. I never saw an info on one. I added the hitch and wiring after buying from the dealer.

According to the information from Nissan, the towing capacity for the 4X2 KC is 6500, for the 4X4 KC it 6300, 4X2 CC is 6300 and 4X4 CC is 6100, these are with the V6 engine. The 4 cyl towing capacity is 3500. The foot note does say the 7-pin connector and tow receiver hitch is required, but the Tow Package looks like it just includes the Tow Hitch receiver and 7-pin wiring harness, it doesn't mention anything about heavy duty anything or an additional oil cooler. I think they all come with the oil cooler, so if you add the Class III Hitch receiver, you're probably good to go!

The towing package only includes the receiver and associated wiring... all ATX Frontiers have the same transmission cooler. I have the same tranny cooler as a friend of mine... his LE came with the towing package installed... I had it installed on my NISMO after delivery.
