Wow... if you can find a NISMO w/ a 6-speed, you've found something rare (I couldn't find one in the SE US when I was looking). I have the 5-speed auto on my NISMO and it shifts like a dream... one of the smoothest autos I've driven in a long time.

I honestly get between 19 and 21 mpg with my auto (mostly highway), so I can't complain about the mileage.

I seriously doubt that there would be much of a performance difference between the auto and manual. The way my auto performs, I couldn't ask for more, anyway.

Good luck!

I couldn't find a 6 speed NISMO either. In fact prior to purchasing mine, I didn't see anyone in my area with a 6 speed period. I would like to drive one, but for my commute, I'd of probably bought the auto anyway. As previously mentioned, it is a very smooth shifting auto transmission, and very responsive! Hard to say which is better, that would all depend on individual preference and daily driving environment! My daily commute entails a lot of stop and go driving, so the auto is much better suited! I'll leave the leg extension exercises to the gym, not my daily drive!

i just picked up the 6 speed its nice very light clutch not bad in city the reason i wanted to know about performance is because the tocoma is 1 sec faster in the 1/4 mile but the nismo has more hp power ???? if you guys want to drive a six speed clay nissan still has some left oh ..ps dont shift to fast or you will lay rubber down in 2 and 3 gear

Despite being a little smaller the frontiers are usually a little heavier in comparable configurations to the tacomas.

I had to look around quite a bit to find the manual transmission in the SE I wanted. I REALLY needed the manual because I want to flat tow my truck behind a motorhome. A few things to consider when choosing the transmission. First, with the 6-speed, you're going to have to replace the clutch sometime down the line. That'll be a PITA and expensive.

On the other hand, I noticed on my test drives that down shifting with the manual saved A LOT of braking, so your brakes should last quite a bit longer. Also, I figured I could coast along in 6th gear with a lower RPM then the auto and save some gas. Plus, it's just fun to down shift and pass people with the stick!

I couldn't find a 6 speed around FL either,bought auto...Love it,the traction control package works great,also.I'm sure the stick COULD be faster,but it would take some slick shifting to match this 5 spd auto. in acceleration.And if you are passing at hwy spd.,The auto is no slouch either.Brakes will definately last longer on the stickshift,though.Gas mileage is rated at 1mpg more on the 6 spd.My new Nismo would BLOW AWAY my (traded in)99 s-10 with a 5pd 4.3,at any speed.

If the auto.tranny had a manual shift mode like the titan,and/or the tow haul mode,it would be a PERFECT transmission.

I have a 2005 Frontier KC SE 4x4 with the 6spd, and my parents recently purchased a 2005 Xtreme 2WD auto. Their auto shifts very smooth, and is great for running around town. The downside to the 6spd is that the Frontier suspension is very soft, so the truck dips when you left off the throttle to shift.

Driveability = auto
Performance = 6 speed
