intercooling Vs. water injection.. small ????

Well.. ive been thinking.. IF you had only one, which would make the air cooler? and intercooler, or water injection?... id imagine water would cool the air down ALOT more.

Consider what would happen should you run out of H2O at a bad time.

how about water to air intercooler?

that'd be even better than just a air to air IC (minus the extra weight)

The intercooler will drop the air temp as much as 120 degrees. Water injection supresses detonation by slowing combustion, not so much by cooling the air.

I thought water was sometimes injected into the engine itself so that the compression would go sky high for huge amounts of power due to the fact that water doesnt compress.

Last place you want water is in the engine. Well, other than the coolant passage region.

If water enters the combustion chamber, time to order a new motor. Enough said.
