Here are some rules for the forums, in no particular order. It's the responsibility of all members to familiarize themselves with these:
- No street racing
- Street racing is reckless, dangerous and illegal. We do not permit this type of discussion.
- No post whoring
- Post whoring is defined as the posting of many messages (often pointless) to boost post counts. It is not tolerated.
Evidently this rule no longer applies. Post whore your heart out.
- Keep it clean
- No flaming. Hostile, derogatory or abusive content is not permitted. Profanity will be ignored if used occasionally, but is not acceptable in subjects, signatures, avatars or profiles.
- Newbies are people too
- Do not jump on new members for not searching before asking a question you've read many times before. If you are unwilling to help a newbie then do not respond. However, newbies need to consider the next point:
- Please search
- Searching before asking a question often is an enlightening experience. Members are more willing to help those who help themselves.
- No spam!
- Spam is always deleted on sight and the account(s) responsible banned, so don't bother. We define spam as affiliate or referral programs, MLM systems, chain letters, "reward" programs, "freebies," or any type of scheme of questionable or no value to the forum membership. We have a Deals forum for the posting of legitimate offers and deals. It will not be used for self-promotion.
- Advertising
- We do not permit free promotion or advertising of sites, products, services, etc. If you wish to advertise here please contact us for more information. Visit http://gfos.net/advertise.html for more info.
- Not Work Safe (NWS) material
- Any material that could potentially cause someone to get in trouble at work must be properly tagged with a NWS warning in the subject. Nudity or pornography is not permitted. NWS material is a subject for the Off Topic forum only.
- For Sale/Want to Buy
- Classifieds are available for those wishing to purchase or sell products here. If items are advertised outside of the classifieds the post(s) will be deleted on sight. Ads cannot be moved.
- Posting etiquette
- Do not change the subject of a topic of discussion (hijack) or "bump" threads within 24 hours of posting. Use of "internet speak" (lol, u, kewl, l8r, etc.) is strongly discouraged in the technical forums. Provide descriptive titles for thread subjects. "I need help" is basically useless. "Power steering problem with my 93 Maxima" is much better.
- Post it where it belongs
- Each forum has a clearly defined description. Use these descriptions to assist in posting your message in the appropriate place. Do not crosspost the same message to multiple forums; choose the one that is most appropriate.
- Four lines signatures maximum!
- Keep sigs to four lines or less. White space counts. If it's too long we'll delete your sig.
- Let the moderators do their job...you don't need to do it for them
- If you see a problem, report the post(s) to the administration using the "Report Bad Post" link (
) to the lower left of each message. There is no need for you to take any other action. If we need your help, we'll ask.
We reserve the right to take any action necessary to ensure the above rules are enforced with or without notice.
Additionally, there is a probationary period for new members. Once a new member has successfully completed registration, they must wait at least 48 hours and post one message before receiving full access to the forums. This restriction is lifted automatically once these conditions are met. During this probationary period ads cannot be placed in the classifieds, threads cannot be rated, nor can polls be created.
