Hi, I recently bought a 2000 Maxima with 130,000 miles on it. Just yesterday, the check engine light came on, so I took it to AutoZone and they told me it was error code "P0430: Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold". He told me I would need a new catalytic converter, but there are 3 of them (PreCat, Y Section, and Rear I think) and he didnt know which one it was just from the diagnostic test. I've been reading online about these same issues with the same vehicle, and some say its an O2 sensor, and some say it could be my Mass Air Flow Sensor. I asked him if that code SPECIFICALLY meant that I needed a cat, (or was this just the most expensive problem he just diagnosed on his own). Does anyone know about this specific code? Do you know what I would need to replace just off that code? I just dont want to fix/replace something that is not fixing my main problem, I'm working with a limited amount of $$ right now, and I want to fix the right thing. Most people are saying its the cat.

Guys, I have a 2000 Maxima and I am getting ready to replace the struts.
Doing the work myself. Trying to make sure I have all the parts I need before
I start tearing it apart. Has anyone ever replaced their own struts and when
you pulled the springs off you realized that you forgot to buy those tube covers that go over the ends of coil springs? Realizing that the covers are split in about 12 plc's. Did anyone ever replace those with say thin walled rubber hose instead of the original equipment hard plastic tubing that it seems you can only buy at the dealer and the cost is $46.00? You have got to be kidding me I told the parts guy at Nissan here in Cincinnati, Ohio where I live!! I am ready to start replacing the struts but I don't want to get in a situation where I tear it down and realize I need those parts. Can't let my car sit for a day. Need to get this work done in one day. HELP! Thanks!

Idle Relearn Help

I have read many threads regarding the idle relearn procedure. And, it is confusing at best. Anyhow, I get the procedure. I changed plugs in my 02 Maxima and of course did the "no-no" and cleaned the TB. And, the outcome of that was/is a high idle and ses obd code of P0507.

I called the dealer and asked about the charge to do the reset via their computers and was quoted $120. He mentioned the manual relearn, which I have seen posted, but he also directed me towards the injector disconnect method in order to get the idle down so it would relearn the new idle.

Can somebody give me CLEAR instructions on how to perform this using the injector disconnect method. I have tried it multiple times, but will try it many more if it saves me $125+. What I have learned thus far:

Shut off electronics -
Make sure steering wheel is straight -
Turn engine on and wait approx 30 sec
Shut off engine for 10 sec
Turn to ON for 3 sec
Press in and release accelerator 5x within 5 seconds
Wait 7 seconds then press in and hold accelerator down..
SES light will start flashing then stop solid on.
Release accelerator w/in 3 seconds of light turning off.

The part that doesn't seem to work is the light never shuts off at the end. It will flash then go solid and stay solid.

Please help w/ some direction here and include the process to disconnect the front injectors.

Thank you very much for any assistance!

I drive the car pretty hard, but when I go from a stop I don't like hit the gas, I press on it little by little, then the front wheels spin like crazy and the steering wheel goes wild. Brakes could be better. And when accelerating, there's like a delay when I press on the gas.
