One is an 04 with 80K mi. full trim automatic for $13k. The other is a five speed '05 same trim 60K mi. $14,500. I guess i would like some input about the pros and cons and if I should buy one of these or keep dumping $ into my 4th gen. Maxima
Thanks in advance for your input.

Hello! Thank you for this forum.

I recently moved to the Atlanta metro area.

Can someone here recommend a good Nissan repair shop near Roswell-Alpharetta?

I have a 2004 Nissan Altima with 93000 miles. The car has been really great. Bought is used in 2006 with 34000 miles.
In the past month this is what happened:
Sometimes I would go out to the car and have problems starting it.Eventually started though.
I would crank it and it would try to start. Then nothing. Eventually started though.
Then give it some gas and it would start. This happened more and more.
Then this weekend. It wouldn't start. I jumped it. Still wouldn't start but it still sounds like it wants to turn over though.
No check engine light. Just the service soon light goes on.
I called the dealership to see if all the recalls were repaired before I bought the car and the work has been done.
Don't have money to take it to dealership and be hit with more than a thousand dollar repair bill.
Any ideas?
The starter?
Airflow sensor?

How much will it cost to repair?

Son called me from college. He had parked his car at his condo, went with friend out of town for weekend. While gone, said he broke the plastic casing on ignition key 'while horsing around'. Upon returning, went to start car (2006 Altima V6), engine turns over and over but will not start.

Because I once had another key made for his car, I understand that there is a 'chip' inside the ignition key casing that electronically 'mates' with the car's ignition when you go to start the car. Is it because he broke the key's casing, the car now will not start? Is this feasible? BTW, the spare key is here - 120 miles away. ReBell

I recently replaced my cam and crank shaft sensors which fixed one problem however now my car is throwing the 0301 code for cylinder misfire.

I was on my way home from work when I noticed the problem, after the engine warmed up whether I was stopped at a light or accelerating on the gas my engine would shake/rattle rough. The CEL light came on a few minutes after and was flashing. I checked the CEL and it gave the error code 0301.

I also noticed a strong gas smell when the engine first started doing this on the way home from work and then also after we replaced the first plug, the engine warmed up (the temp. gauge was fine) and then the rattle again with a strong gas smell for a few seconds.

We replaced the first plug but it is still doing the same thing. Any suggestions?

Hi Guys I need your help!

I have a 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5SL with roughly 122k miles.
My car is in $8,000 of repair work - and they still can't get the car to run right!
My car shakes/misfires when idling either in park or drive and all shops that I've taken it too can confirm this, but cannot pinpoint why.

So far the relevant work done to the car just for the idle problem are as follows:
-Replaced entire throttle body (thinking the idle air valve was bad)
-Replaced "Air Flow sensor" and "Air Flow meeter) (aka 02 sensor?) bank 1
-Replaced 2 leaking fuel injectors

The work listed above was done by the Nissan dealer. With my most recent visit, I was told that they had to call the Nissan tech support hotline to ask what to do next. They advised them that the car needs to have bank 1 catalytic converter replaced. (the car has had a check engine code for this).

The dealer is recommending that after doing all of the above work (knowing the cat was "bad") the cat converter needs to be replaced. The thing that makes me most frustrated is that all technicians working ont he vehicle, including the Nissan dealer, specifically advised me that the cat converter would not cause the car to misfire or idle bad. It seems that now that they have replaced parts and the idle has only gotten worse - they recommending that I replace the cat.

Can someone please advise me what to do next? I did some research and I cannot find anywhere that says a bad cat would cause a bad idle or the car to misfire. The dealer has tried to explain to me that the bad cat can cause the car to read incorrect figures from the oxygen sensors causing the car to run too rich or too lean in turn causing the car to misfire. I have no idea if this theory is accurate, but if it were true then wouldn't there be a check engine light for too lean/too rich? Why would they replace the airflow sensors with a bad cat too begin with?
Why the hell is the cat even bad to begin with?

I need some guidance from the smart people on this forum to see what my next action should be.

I've been doing some reasearch on giving my baby altima a little more get up and go. As if it doesn't have enough for a 4 cyl. I was going to invest in a K&N air filter but figured id save another 200 bucks and get a cool air intake instead. Was also told that certain high end spark plugs can give you quite a gain for some small change. Any other suggestions?

I've been told by a few people that an Injen RD CAI would best suit my Altima, does anyone currently have this? Would K&N be a better choice?
