My wife Sentra failed emissions check for the MA state annual inspection. The report says something about "catalytic converter below threshold".

I'm think that with 89,000 miles on it I should try swapping out the original equipment O2 sensor(s?) before spending big bucks on a new cat. Anyone have experience with this, and if so, where's a good cheap place to get new OE-quality O2 sensors?

Thanks!

P.S. - This problem is what failed emissions. I still have another code for a failed overdrive solenoid in the transmission. No way can I can't afford to replace the transmission right now!

When installing head bolts on nissan they say to follow steps a-e so my question is at step "e" it says 55 degrees and 59ftlb 59 sounds to me on the light side. I feel like i should torque these puppies down to about 100 ftlb a piece. Anyone else thinks the 59ftlb is light? and if you done this work on the past what did you set it to?

Hello all. New member here; I just did a search for a topic like this but I didn't find anything.

I'm looking for advice from experienced Nissan owners regarding a 2005 Nissan Sentra that I'm thinking of buying.

It is being sold by a fairly reputable dealer/mechanic.

I went to test drive it yesterday. It had to be jumped to start it, otherwise it ran great, all electronics seemed to be working fine.

It's got low miles (about 21k), but my concern is that after running a Carfax report, I saw that they had bought it almost 4 years ago from a dealer (it was a rental) and it's just been sitting on their lot.

With a car that has been sitting for so long, what concerns should i have and what should I expect from the dealer in terms of upkeep before the sale (tune-ups, new oil, new fuel, etc.)?

Thanks!

Looking through the forums I tried everything, new MAF, TBS, Spark Plugs nothing would fix it. Today I went and bought a new Crank Positioning Sensor for 30$ at Autozone - Installed it and BAM!!! Problem solved!!!!! I just thought I would share this with ya guys so if your having the same problems try the 30$ CPS first.

Hello everyone, I just purchased a 02 nissan sentra ser spec v last week and it gives me a problem today.

In the morning, when I tried to start the car, it just don't start and the temperature outside is not that low, about high in 30. After I give it more gas, it started but there was some blue smoke came out of the exhaust and it smells like the engine just burned some oil.

Another problem that the car has right now is the check engine light is on, I took it to a repair shop and people there tell me that the car has a evap leak problem and I need to take it to the dealer to fix it.

Anyone could give me some ideas about what is going on with it and how to fix the problem? If I take the car to the dealer, how much will it cost to get the car repaired?

Thank you for your reply.
