I have a 1988 Nissan Sentra with a 1.6 liter engine (8 valve SOHC). I recently have been experiencing high temperature issues when sitting at idle, such as at a drive thru or long red light. I changed the thermostat several weeks ago to eliminate that as a possibility. I have noticed a bubbling/gurgling sound at the overflow reservoir for several days now but thought it was normal due to the high temperatures. After returning from the supermarket tonight, I noticed steam rising from underneath the hood and fluid leaking in the driveway. I raised the hood to inspect and noticed coolant coming from somewhere behind the engine. I also heard a hissing/whistling sound from where the coolant was escaping (beneath the throttle body). I could not see exactly where the leak was coming from. Has anyone experienced anything or heard of a situation such as this? Any help will be greatly appreciated. I do not want to send my trusty old Nissan to the bone yard yet!
