The plug in my transmission is bigger than 3/8 square and smaller than 1/2. Have applied a fair amount of pressure with a 3/8 ratchet and it's starting to dig in. The guys at Autozone had no tools that would fit in the plug, other than perhaps a metric star drive but I don't want to mash the thing up completely.

Anybody know what sort of tool will fit snugly in the plug? There's lots of oil seeping out the seals and I really want to top it off.

Hi All,

Ok, I've got an 89 Sentra with an E16 engine. Suddenly stopped running; stalled and won't start. Car was at slow speed when this happened. Engine cranks, rest of car has juice but the engine won't fire. I've checked the carb - she's getting plenty of gas, and I've checked for spark - no problem there. I have taken it to my mechanic who has duplicated results and has confirmed the coil is alive and healthy. Ran several compression tests with erratic results on cyl # 1: 80lbs - 100lbs - 120lbs etc .. At this point we suspect the timing chain has skipped - or broken a couple of teeth? Might there be valve damage here as well? Something we're missing? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

My timing belt desperately needs replacing. I have the FSM and the Haynes, and both are rather vague on how to do this. How, after getting it all aligned at TDC, do I get the darn thing off without it all turning? Haynes says to put it in 2nd and hold down the brake, which I did with a pair of vice grips, but I still get movement. If that darn lower dust cover wasn't there I think I could do the job without removing the pulley... Or does this have something to do with me taking the spark plugs out? If I leave them in will the compression hold things still?

But had to button things up before sundown. She still runs. Got an errant vacuum hose that I can't find a home for. Snapped a bolt on the new water pump but it still has 4 at least.

The seller insists that it fit under the hood of the original car. Somebody needs to buy this and put it on their car! Weber IDF 44's are $239 each on ebay.

(And no I have no personal interest in this transaction.)
