Reason for asking is that i just got back from the dealership and they just informed me that in order to fix my QG18, it's going to cost something in the neighborhood of $3300. I can probably find a QR25DE with tranny for less than that, and probably accomplish most of the work myself. Sooooo, back to the question, anyone done/know where i can find information pertaining to this?

Hello everyone, I've already gleaned a ton of info from reading the posts and you guys seem like a great community!

I do need a little help still though!

I have a 2004 Nissan Sentra which up until about a week ago had some problems starting right away (which I now know is pretty common it seems). But then out of the blue it started having real trouble starting, cranking slow enough to put the transmission into safe mode. I thought a low battery, but the battery comes back with 100& health, so I cleaned the intake, changed plugs, checked/cleaned the injectors and it was still stubborn starting, but would go with a little coaxing of the gas pedal. I thought it might be the fuel pump, but hadn't checked the fuel pressure yet.

Yesterday it wouldn't go at all, I think I hear the fuel pump prime, but no clicking. Battery is still good. So now I'm thinking it's the starter, but would the starter have caused the other aforementioned conditions? Or do I have a bad fuel pump that took out the starter too? Any help or thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, everyone!

I'm new here and need some help. I have a 2001 Sentra GXE that has always been a great little car, but it's having some issues.

First is the check engine light. It's been on for quite a while. I got it checked and was told it was the O2 sensors, but I was short on cash (and am not a mechanic, so I can't do it myself). Finally got them replaced...and then the CEL came on again about 5 miles later. Going to get that checked again soon--and I know there's no way you could tell me what the deal is with that without more information, but I thought it might be relevant for the next part.

When I first start my car, it shudders and seems about to die when I shift into drive. If I wait it out (i.e., don't press on the accelerator or anything), it will literally kick into gear, spring forward and I'll have no more trouble with it. It seems to help if I let the car idle a bit after starting before attempting to drive it, but the time I need to let it idle is getting longer and longer. I don't know if this could be a transmission problem, some sort of flow (air, gas, whatever) issue, or something else entirely.

I've done basic routine maintenance on the car (e.g., oil & air filter changes, belts as necessary, etc.), but no major services since I got ripped off by my local Nissan dealer (charged me $800 for a 30k service, supposedly changing all fluids, etc...and then the next time I took it in, they recommended the service again because they said the fluids had never been changed! Grr...) I've also never changed the fuel filter (well, I don't remember if they *supposedly* changed it in the 30K service, but I know I haven't changed it since then). I generally use Exxon gas (they're cheapest and closest) and my car isn't driven very much at all--it had just under 16K miles when I got it in 3/02 and it now has just under 97K.

I do have a mechanic I can trust now, but since the CEL came on right after I left his shop, I'd like to have a better idea of what the problem could be so I don't have to keep relying on blind faith...so any possible solutions you could offer would be muchly appreciated!!

Thank you :)

I hope I'm posting this in the right section, anyway. I have a Nissan Pulsar Q1.8L Hatchback 2003. Now I plan to install a few led strips here and there..but my only problem is I don't know how to get the wires through the firewall to the battery. I can't find any holes to put them through.

Thank you

So my 2006 Sentra 1.8S usually starts right when I turn the key, but lately every so often it would take about 6 seconds before the car would actually turn over. I decided to change the plugs, and the fourth cylinder spark plug came out pretty nasty (see pictures below.) I was wondering if this single spark plug could have been causing the problem that would make the car take a while to start, and if this looks like there is oil leaking in to this cylinder. I don't get any smoke out of the exhaust when I start the car.
This is my first car that I ever really worked on :newbie:

i've been trying to trouble shoot this problem and i'm not sure what i'm looking for. i've tested the voltage on each O2 sensor connector above the exhaust manifold. the two 3-wire connectors read 13.8V on the female side. and 1.0V on the male side after i warmed the engine up to normal op. temp. and opened the connector. the two 4-wire connectors were each different. the bank 1 downstream connector (second connector from the front of the car) on the male side, when open, had a fluctuating voltage from .1-.8V. and the other 4-wire connector on the male side had a voltage of .1V and did not vary. Both of the 4-wire connectors were supplied with 13.8V on the female side of the connector. if anyone can tell me what this all means, it would be greatly appreciated. :balls:
