Hi , hoping to find advice form someone with similar experiince or hopefully someone in the trade.

I identified a small leak getting in at rear left hand side light fitting. The panel rivetted on is where its drippping down.

I tested by pouring water around boot lid. The water is somehow making its way behind the drain channel and appearing behind the rivetted panel.

The water is collecting fairly quickly in the base of the boot.

Any help appreciated.

Hello,
I could not find a forum with my truck in it but I hear this is a very good site and I could really use some help! Please

I have a 1996 ( Manufactur date 8/1996 ) pickup king cab XE 2.4 ltr 4 cyl engine, Manual XMSN, rear wheel drive.

A couple months ago I noticed that when I would come to a stop my RPM would dip and then rise back to about 800/900 RPM. I checked for vac leaks, replaced some old looking tubeing but could not find anything wrong. Seemed to run fine until about a month ago. Was driving on the freeway @ 70-75MPH and the truck started loosing power. Reminded me of the time my alt. went out. But this was not the same. It felt as if I had just down shifted except instead of the RPM climbing they were dropping and bogging down the engine. Pulled over and was stuck on the side of the road for about 2 hours. Started it back up as a last try before calling for a tow and she started fine. I had full rev of the RPM but when I got to 3500 RPM it would happen all over again. I waited for rush hour to pass and limped home.

I decided to start with the simple stuff. fuel filter, plugs, wires, distributer rotor and cap, air filter, even flushed the oil because I was already a mess. Started it up and all was good.

until...

2 weeks ago drove to work with no problems. Was on my way home from work. Half way home sudden drop in RPM and power. Check engine lite on and can not get RPM above 2500. Limped to a auto repair shop to get the codes read, The mechanic told me I had a MAF sensor failure and an O2 sensor. but was told the O2 would not cause for LIMP mode or RPM limiting.

Looked all over the place for a MAF sensor. Found a new in the Pkg. OEM part number hitachi for $150 on ebay motors. Just got it in today. Installed it and no dice. The problem is still there and worse because before I was able to get normal performance for 10 to 15 minutes and now right off the bat 2500 RPM limited and a strong rich fuel smell. I don't remember the code. I am waiting for a friend to bring a reader in for me to use. but If the MAF sensor wasn't it but the code is still there for it what else can it be? Please help!

Guys I did post this query earlier on in the Pathfinder section but I think it is relevant to all models.

I just bought an 09 Pathfinder and have found the sat nav on it to be shocking. It doesn't find half the places my TomTom has in it (i.e. regular stored addresses) and I can't even search by postcode.

The dealer tells me they have changed this on the 2010 model to being postcode driven grrrrrr

However, a cd to update only the roads (i.e. not upgrade the software as such) is £125!!!

Is there a way round this or even a way to get the sat nav upgraded to being half way decent like my trusty old Tom Tom was?!

I find it appalling that I've just spent so many spondoolies on a top of the range vehicle yet the sat nav is so poor and they want to fleece me out of more crash to keep it updated!! :wtf:

I am filing an official complaint with American Honda and the BBB tomorrow morning about the practices of Peoria Acura of Arizona!!! I have never been treated the way I was today by anyone!!!

(Full situation below)

Over the past couple of days I have been working with several individuals at Peoria Acura to purchase a 2010 TSX for a family member. Yesterday morning the family member and I went to Peoria Acura to discuss a deal after being quoted a sale price over the telephone. The price quoted happened to be the best price of any dealership in the state and that is what got us to the dealership. Take a mental note for later in the write-up: The drive from my part of town to the dealership takes almost an hour. I would have preferred to work with Tempe Acura but they were unwilling to budge on price. My family member and I get to the dealership and they bring out the "screw sheet" and the price is suddenly jumped to almost $5,000 over what I was quoted over the telephone. After 20 minutes of haggling they finally adjust the sale price to what was quoted over the phone (normal dealership way of doing business). After another hour of haggling (them saying this is the lowest possible and then going lower 5 minutes later when we try to walk out) we come to a deal that makes sense. I have been dealing with a serious medical issue an had to leave with the family member to go to a doctor's appointment that couldn't be missed right when we reached a deal. Without stating the terms of the deal, the dealership was still making a decent profit but kept saying they were losing money on the deal. We shook on the deal and agreed we could come and pick up the car later in the day after my doctor's appointment and sign the paperwork for the deal that was agreed upon.

After my doctor's appointment I call the dealership and get a, "The deal is done you can come pick up the car. When are you going to be here?" from the sales advisor that worked the deal. I sit back and eat dinner thinking the deal is complete and my family member could pick up the car after dinner. During dinner I receive another car from a different sales person saying, "When are you expected to be out here? Your car is ready." My family member gets in her current car and starts to drive to the dealership to pick up the brand new TSX. On the way I called and asked if she could keep her current plate and if someone could help her setup the bluetooth telephone system. Mind you this was roughly 30 minutes after my family member had left to pick up the car. The sales advisor on the phone says, "Sure, not a problem and she could keep her plates." After muttering that sentence she asks me to hold on for a moment. She must have talked to someone in the background during this time. When I get off hold she tells me the TERMS OF THE DEAL have changed from what was agreed upon earlier in the day and the monthly payment has suddently increased substantially. I get off the phone with the lady and call my family member who is already 45 minutes into the drive to tell her the news that the deal changed. After hanging up with her I call the finance manager and the guy says he should be able to work something out with Honda Finance in reference to the situation the next day (the day of this post). I hang up thinking everything will get worked out and we can pick up the car the following day.

This morning my family member doesn't hear back from the dealership so she calls the cell of one of the finance department guys who called her the previous day. The guy tells her he will get things worked out and will call her back in 15 minutes. My family member doesn't hear back from the guy so she calls the finance department early afternoon. The lady who answers the phone goes through a whole story and says she needs additional information and the deal would be approved at the terms shaken upon the prior day. My family member hangs up and once again doesn't hear back from the dealership. So, she calls the dealership again and asks to speak to the finance lady. The lady tells her the deal isn't done yet and she would receive a call back later (who knows why, I doubt they were busy (read reason why below)).

This evening around 6:30pm the sales advisor calls back and says the terms of the deal have changed AGAIN and the monthly payment is going to increase. My family member gets upset and tells the sales advisor to end the deal that she has another deal at far better terms at another local Acura dealership (she does). The sales advisor keeps talking and won't let her hang up. After discussing things heatedly back and forth telling the advisor she drove 45 minutes to pick up the car the day prior after being told it was a done deal the sales advisor says, "FINE!, YOU CAN HAVE THE (ORIGINAL) DEAL!!" in a very strong tone. My family member asks the sales advisor nicely four times (while I was standing right there), "The terms of the deal are going to stay the same right? I am not going to drive out there to have something change, correct?" After each time the advisor who has now calmed down says "yes...yes, you can come pick up the car." She gets in her car and starts driving to the dealership. After 20 minutes she receives a call saying the deal has changed YET AGAIN. This time a substantial increase in payment over and above the increase from the prior evening and a higher down payment! This time she tells the lady the deal is over. Then, after getting home a DIFFERENT PERSON calls on the home telephone line saying let's get the deal done tonight.

This is where I get involved. I call the sales guy who told her to pick up the car and ask him why the terms have changed again that he told her TIME AFTER TIME that she could come pick up the car knowing full well that it was an hour drive. The guy gets huffy and raises his tone talking about the deal. After I explain to him that the deal was agreed upon the day prior he says that my family member wasn't honest when they were talking on the phone the time prior (before she left to pick up the car). After telling him I was standing right next to her as she was talking he starts YELLING AND CALLING HER A LIAR. I finally get upset and tell him deal over and hang up on his yelling.

To top it off, after I call my family member and tell her she was just called a liar several times by the sales guy another person from the dealership calls and leaves a voice message asking to get the deal done tonight.

How can a business continue to run with that amount of incompetence and pure unethical practices?

Through this entire situation there were 3 general finance people involved, 1 finance manager, and 2 sales people who were all giving conflicting information and different numbers.

Does anyone else have any ideas how to get this dealership reprimanded for their unethical practices? This is getting posted on several car forums.

*The initial sales advisor said their quoted price was the lowest because the manager approved it due to not selling a single car the day prior. During the entire time of the deal (3 hours after test driving and all that fun stuff during mid through late morning) not a single person drove into the parking lot or walked through their door. That made me really suspicious sitting there dealing with them but everything at the time they said was factual.

(I left out all names and numbers to keep information private)

Please help me spread the word about this dealership. No one else should have to go through the same mess.

Nissan Canada warranty management – Is Nissan Canada treating me fairly?

I could have submitted these comments to the 2005 X-Trail & Pathfinder threads on rear hatch handle rust issues, but the key focus is on how Nissan Canada handles (or doesn’t handle) warranty concerns, so I am posting this as a new thread in the “General Discussion” forum…

My issue is simple: I reported an issue of rear hatch handle rust to the local Nissan dealership, before the vehicle warranty expired. However, the dealership had recently changed ownership, and most of the staff, including the service department staff, were very new to their roles. Perhaps because they were so inexperienced, they were unaware that Nissan had issued a bulletin acknowledging that this problem was associated with a known manufacturing defect, and that Nissan would pay for associated repairs under warranty. In any event, the dealership simply attributed the problem to the original operators of dealership not applying fallout to the vehicle before delivering it to me. Bottom line, the rust problem was not properly addressed, even though Nissan was routinely accepting warranty claims for proper repair of this problem in other 2005 X-Trails and Pathfinders.

As time went by, the problem became worse. Where the rust was originally only in the chrome, it was now also in the paint. At around this time, I stumbled across this website, and learned that this issue was recognized by Nissan as a manufacturing defect that they were prepared to address under warranty. However, at this point, the three-year factory warranty had expired. When I tried to seek warranty coverage anyway, I was politely advised by Nissan Canada that the warranty had expired, so the rust problem would not be covered by Nissan under warranty.

My frustration is that this kind of problem could still happen! My powertrain warranty is still in effect, but unless either I or the dealership recognize an emerging problem as an issue that would be covered under warranty, the problem may once again not be fully recognized until after the warranty has expired! Whose responsibility is it to recognize that a problem will be covered under warranty? Is it my responsibility? If so, why doesn’t Nissan issue their warranty bulletins to me, rather than to their dealerships? If it’s the dealership’s responsibility to recognize and properly address reported warranty issues, doesn’t Nissan have any interest/responsibility to ensure that they do so? Doesn’t Nissan have any responsibility to ensure that dealership staff are properly trained and qualified, especially when dealership ownership changes and staff is inexperienced?

I replaced the slave master cylinder, bled the system, and everything was fine. A week later, the clutch stopped working again. It started working again yesterday. I flushed the break system, then went to flush the clutch system (it's hydraulic and is connected to the break master). At first, fluid came out as normal than a lot of air. Now there's no clutch at all.

Is there a specific way to bleed the clutch system?

I have an 05 4 door Almera saloon, I noticed some dampness around the inside of both rear doors.

Checking around the doors on the outside , I noticed a problem with the rubber window seals on each side. In the corner where the seals meet along the top of the window, the rubber seal falls short about 6mm.

This leaves a gap where I suspect rain is getting in and making its way around the door seals.

Has anyone seen this with almera's or any other cars ?

Another problem with is it is the rear window de-mister not working. I have found some breaks in the lines ,I will go about repairing and hopefully it will work again. ...Anyone have expericence with this job ?

I heard about a sealant I can get from motor factors for the window seals.

Thanks for any help,

my motor wouldn't go into 1st and 2nd for a stage. took this to the mechanics, and they tested first if the linkages needed replacing [not sure what these are =\] which they replaced...when that didn't solve the problem they went for a new gearbox. now being an LSD engine, it was a bit hard to find one.

anyways they replaced it, i got a whole new gearbox. now the following is happening:
- speedo doesn't work [this happened shortly after the repair]
- when i get the revs up too high, the car will start shuddering and the revs won't go any further. its semi alright, as this is the point where i pretty much need to change gears [otherwise im over-revving]

my question is, and its a long shot - could they have inadvertedly disconnected something or tampered with anything? also i read about manuals requiring a timing belt replacement every 60,000 km...could this be the shuddering?

i'm grasping at straws, and apologies if im posting in the wrong section. thank you in advance.

Ok, first off we have a strong battery, the terminals have been cleaned.
Occasionally the key will actually engage the starter motor, say once in 20 tries. Looks like the solenoid is not right.
What is involved in changing the solenoid. We've done them in chevy's plenty
just not on a Nissan.
Really any assistance is appreciated as it snowed out last night and we will be laying on cardboard looking up into the abyss.
cheers
