Ok, so I got my car back from the shop, and I had asked them to re-sync my remotes. When they did this, they also re-enabled my car alarm. I bought the car used, and the person I bought it from had the alarm disabled.
So, for some reason, my alarm is kinda weird. If I use the key to open the door, the alarm goes off, and I can't turn it off unless I press the 'unlock' key on the remote. How do I fix this? I want to be able to open my door using the key without the alarm going off. It would be nice if I could fully disable the alarm (and have the remotes still work).

Seems like I read somewhere here not long ago several people were trying to decide the best way to raise the seat height in their HB's. I thought it was going to be a real biatch because the floor and feet are not horizontal in the front like the rear, so short of fabricating some type of adaptors I wasn't sure how this was going to work at first. Then I proceeded to take a seat out and have a look.

Upon flipping the seat over I discovered the seat tracks do bolt up flat to the seat base. That was wonderful news. I just happened to have four long 8mm bolts and a section of 3/4" plastic electrical conduit laying around ...you know, that grey PVC looking stuff. I cut four squared off lengths of the PVC exactly 1-1/4" because that's how much longer my extra bolts were than the stock bolts holding the seat tracks to the seat. Those are now my new spacers that will raise the seat 1-1/4" off the tracks. Then the tracks will mount exactly as they did before right back in the same position on the floor.

I then took the wire connecting the tracks to each other for the slide adjuster, and a spring off so I could remove the tracks. I took one side at a time and installed the short PVC spacers between the bottom of the seat base and the top of the tracks. I put a little loc-tite and a nice flat washer under the head of each new longer bolt just to make sure the assembly never moves. Reinstalled the spring and slide adjuster wire and bolted the seat back in place.

I couldn't be happier. It gives me much more leg room. I still have plenty between my legs and the steering wheel, and my head and the ceiling, and yet now I sit up in the truck like it should have been from the factory ...unless you are into low riders ...but, even then I could lay the seat back and cruise in comfort. I'm right at 6ft. tall, 205 lbs., and now the D21 fits me perfectly.

This is a VERY simple and extremely sturdy construction, and took me under an hour per seat ...and I was moving very slowly at that. I ended up using 2-1/4" long, 8mm stainless steel grade 8 bolts and washers, and the heavy duty 3/4", PVC electrical conduit, not the stuff you use for water lines. Honestly, the hardest part was measuring and cutting that thick wall plastic conduit evenly. The best part is that you can custom fit this application to any height that fits you. All you have to be sure of is that your bolts are plenty long enough. Too long is no problem as there is lots of room under each seat base to work with.

I'll put up a link to some pics shortly. Like now... My Nissan truck mods pictures by TheRepairMan - Photobucket

Oh, and I forgot ...this mod adds that much more clearance underneath the seat for those things like stereo amplifiers, slap jacks, billy clubs or large caliber revolvers now. It's just GREAT!

G'day!

I have been the owner of a 98 200SX SE-R SR20DE since new

159K miles, recent clutch and tires that was in great condition prior to an unfortunate accident which I hit a pole on the drivers side and did some damage across hood. Basically the drive train is probably the parts worth the most. No damage to radiator, A/C etc but the impact was pretty hard, rear glass is good but windshield and side windows are trash.

Anyway I would like to sell the car whole and rather not take it to the scrap yard....can anybody give me a rough idea of it's worth even if I sell it just for the engine and 5 spd tranny ? Thanks.

Hi , hoping to find advice form someone with similar experiince or hopefully someone in the trade.

I identified a small leak getting in at rear left hand side light fitting. The panel rivetted on is where its drippping down.

I tested by pouring water around boot lid. The water is somehow making its way behind the drain channel and appearing behind the rivetted panel.

The water is collecting fairly quickly in the base of the boot.

Any help appreciated.

Hi all-

I am an artist looking for photos that I can use freely as reference for an art project. I am looking for shiny show car/custom type interesting engine pics and would need them to be pretty large. Perferably macro type shots or shots with the hood up would be good..

If any of you have a car like this it would be so awesome if I could use a photo of your engine for painting reference. I'd gladly give credit for the photo ref on my website once I complete the painting.

Message or email me at: mistic_imp@msn.com if you think you might have something i can use.

Thanks so much in advance:)

Just finished up installing my new struts tonight. Was bleeding my brakes and when I got in to turn the car around to put the rear end closer to the light... Grt-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t. Won't go into gear, or rather, goes into gear but there's no go. Jacked it up... no wheel motion. Passenger side axle is wobbling around when I spin the tire and grinding noises coming from CV joint.

Could I perhaps have just put a kink in the knuckle of the joint and the friction is keeping the differential from applying power? Or did I just get real lucky and have this thing fail in the shop instead of on the freeway?

Argh. I know how to fix a lot of things but I've never dealt with axles and CV joints...

Hello first post- Looking to buy a pathfinder for the winter. I owned a perfect condition 92 with 70K's on it a few years back and absolutely loved it. Basic solid and simple. Had to sell it though.

I am buying another one in the next few weeks for wintertime and have a toss up on which to buy.

1987 SE- (Yes, 1987) with 126K miles. 2 dr, AC, cruise, power stuff, 5 spd. Repainted a while back, some surface rust, and just a few electrical and superficial issues from being 22 years old. Solid drivetrain though. Tiny tick from the engine.
1000 Bucks.
OR

1997 SE, 5 spd, 140K miles. No problems. Slightly worse rust. (I live in Toronto... SALT) Should replace front fender because of it.
2000 bucks.

Now I want to spend the least amount humanly possible, probably won't be reselling it for years, and also have this thing last me for several years of winter driving (ride a bike in the summer).

I like the 87 a lot just because of it's trucklike nature, (But its so damn OLD) but what I really want to know is if the 97's have the same bulletproof reputation, and all else being equal about their condition, which one will last me longer?? (The 97 is more refined, though that doesn't matter to me)
Should I expect some problems with this sort of mileage on either??

Thanks everyone.

Dan
