Hi guy's,
I hope i'm in the right place I just pulled the engine out of my 1987 pulsar nx se it was burning oil real bad.The engine I pulled out was a CA16DE What engine could I upgrade it to with out having to modify every thing, an
engine that will bolt the same way the CA16DE did
I would like to put a CA18DET in is this possible with out having to do a bunch of modifications If it is possible what changes would have to be made?
Thank's
If you just wanna go stock, CA18DE engines are much more plentiful than CA16DE ones because the CA16DE was only made for one year. They bolt right in, no mods. Same stroke, bigger bore. VROOM!
Ciao!

So I won't have to modify the motor mounts and will i have have to replace the cable for the clutch with a hydraulic one.And last question will i need to replace the ca16de wiring harness and ecu with the ca18de harness and ecu
from what i understand and i have been studying on this forum for a good 2-3 years is that all the external components between the two engines are the same or interchangable. If you were thinking that becasue the ca18de has a hydro clutch you would have to redo that then no that is not the case. but only if you bolt it up to your existing tranny. the harness from your ca16de should connect up in all the same places as the ca18de. im preety sure the ecu is capable of runnign on the ca18de but that would be the only component i would worry about being different.
