GA16i Distributor leak part question

I have a minor leak coming from my distributor. I think I have to change an o-ring, but I can't seem to find a part number (yet) from my FSM. Can anyone help me?

Well, I pulled my distributor to replace the o-ring, and lo n behold, the o-ring isn't in too bad of shape. The distributor, however, had oil inside the body. I don't think that's good. Damn, reman dist. cost about 200 bones. I tried taking apart the dist. and find the leak in the housing, but I can't get the one screw that's threaded into the shaft of the dist. Anyone know how to remedy a leaky dist. housing?

Yeah... I had the same problem with my distributor in my '90 Sentra. I think the type of distributor used by Nissan from 1987 to 1994 was not very high quality. If you have a local junkyard, you can grab one for about $25 from any Sentra between '87 and '94 (B13 Sentras used the same distributor), and hope you get one in good shape. I lucked out when I grabbed mine, it was off a '94 Sentra GXE that had just come in the lot the day before.

Thanks, I was wondering about that yesterday at the junkyard. Paid 15 for a dist. from a '92 sentra, which was alot better than 209 at Kragen. Same part number as my '90 dist. God bless Puck 'n Pull and their Manager's specials.

When you say O-ring are you talking about one inside of the distrubutor? My gasket between the distributor and the cap is not fully installed. The second one is not the one you are talking about correct.

The part number for the distributor o-ring is Nissan 22131-78A00. I ordered one a while back to replace my old one and I want to say it was about $6.
