read this out !

here you go, i received this from Greg conway, wich i think is a fellow around here !

Its somekind of illustration of wath happens when you dont get the routine maintenance completely done/ or properly or wether you got bad local mechanics... anyway its a sad story !

ASSUMING YOU HEAD GASKET HAS BEEN REPLACED BY A DEALER ALONG WITH YOU OTHER MANY ENGINE SEALS *FIRST* How many miles do you have on it again and what year is it? I hate to keep asking questions and I am not a mechanic, though I too had a similar problem and I would be using my experience on what was repaired on my car to give you a possible heads up on your dilemma. I had an excessive amount of white smoke spewing from the tail pipe. The exhaust was so hot that the rust coating had literally been fried off of it. The exhaust had been abnormally hot. The car would smoke from under the hood, not from under the car. The car was very hard to start and difficult to keep running, and would stall under normal driving conditions. I would hammer down on the go pedal and the car would go no were, if anything it would loose power. I check the oil often and it was using allot and getting dirty much faster than usual. *I HAD THE CAR NISSAN DEALER CHECHED OUT AND THIS IS WHAT THEY HAD DIAGNOSED.* Darrell unfortunately at this time I DO-NOT have a scanner or I would scan and send you copies of the receipts so you can see them, I plan to get one by/before Christmas. Mind you, I had driven the car for maybe close to a year like this before it literally died and I was FORCED to take it to the dealer. Well this is the find! My 1987 2 door with A/C 5 speed 2 barrel carbureted Nissan Sentra SE in silver. . . I had initially started with a catalytic converter the was slowly clogging up, until it had completely clogged, this is what it had damaged due to it's inability to properly allow exhaust gasses and pressure to freely flow. #1 When it backed up, it caused allot of internal engine pressure, which had literally pushed oil into the intake system via other hoses and stuff (carburetor too you could see it just all over it when you remove the lid, and the filter itself was contaminated, and the little whit filter thing in there too was soaked with oil). In addition to the air/fuel ratio, oil is a fuel of sorts too, and with oil now introduced into the combustion system this raises the fuel to air ratio as it is seen by the computer (ECU), though this cannot be properly burned, higher fuel ratios (richer) will destroy a catalytic converter at a accelerating rate, thus causing further damage due to clogging and backpressure on the engine. The engines heat along with thick oil now in the combustion system, causes excessive carbon build up at an alarming rate which will give you a performance loss. The excessive oil (over time) inside the carburetor will destroy the seals inside of it causing it to dump more fuel naturally because it is now damaged, thus increases gas consumption. As carbon (due to oil inside the system) builds up it fouls the spark plugs (carbon on the tip black stuff) this causes a weaker spark (still with a high fuel ratio, even higher now). The smoke and carbon now contaminate the oxygen sensor causing it to foul and no longer able to sense what the motor is doing. Due to the excessive carbon build up and heat, the EGR which also works in the exhaust system is now loaded up with carbon and it cannot move (up and down direction like a pump) this now shuts down. One the EGR shuts down the car WILL SEASE ALL OPERATIONS WITHIN SECONDS, AND WILL NOT OPERATE AGAIN UNTIL IT'S DIAPHAM CAM MOVE! *Test for yourself. . . Start your car, take two fingers and place under your EGR and push it upwards, it will shut down.* Now due to this I had to get another car. As a result of this, here is what has to be replaced. #1 Carburetor, #2 Fuel Mixture Heater, #3 PCV valve and Tube, #4 PCV Filter, #5 Air Filter, #6 EGR Valve, #7 BPT Valve, #8 Oxygen Sensor, #9 Catalytic Converter, #10 All Drive Belts (oil splashed out and contaminated them?), & finally #11 All Gaskets involved in this work. This is common I would think, you do not want to know how many MINT condition 1987-88 Sentra's I see in the junkyard with oil contamination in the carburetor or fuel injection intake (E16I) systems. Cars are MINT no rust no dents interior perfect??? Just like mine though. . . Oil in the carburetor or injector and completely contaminated the air filter's box, oil is dirty black, and a HUGE splash of oil around and on the belts, passenger side back of headlamp, and some around the brake master cylinder. JUST LIKE MINE WAS??? Perfect cars (strangely ALL were GXE's) all mint condition??? I am no mechanic, I am educated though and this info is from a dealer service ticket, though not as lengthy, it should serve you and give you some start points. This is why mine still sits on the drive way today repair was huge $ $1,500.00 to be exact. So I had left it be. Need pictures of the EGR, BPT, or other things mail me and I will send them to you. I hope this helps you guys. I have mailed this to others as well. Print it out and review it. This is actually my cars current problem, more than likely though other B12 have suffered from this and were junked.

-Greg

***** What I am wondering, is if Greg converted his B12 sedan into a pseudo SE model with the dash cluster, wheels, and a sticker on the trunk. I have never seen a B12 sedan that was an SE model. Did such a car ever exist?
