***** What, no "thanks" first, for taking the time to write this article, pictures and all? I ran your Isky cam with the stock springs. I used to shift it at 6,000 rpm. With a downdraft intake and carb, that worked best. I used the dual valve springs on the 7,000 rpm engine, because it has a cam with almost a half inch [.500"] lift.
Hey buddy!!!... Thanks alot , those are great infos !! always love to read your technical post like this one !!... and now that you got photos !!... wath a delight !!

Hi Guys,
First of all, I want to thank Ricebox for making my original thread a sticky, and maintaining it for all to access hard to find E-series engine facts. Just a thought though, why don't we use this modification list sticky for information on modifying the E-series engine, and start a new thread each time a new subject or question comes up. That way this list won't get bogged down with too many pages that will make it too time consuming to find good hard facts. Mattster79's questions are fine, but they have been asked a hundred times already in the past.
Matt, as far as I know, no one has added a nitrous system to a carbed E16. I see no reason it wouldn't work, but you'd have to fabricate your own kit. The E15ET will bolt right in your '87 B12 but the efi harness is another story. That installation would not be for the novice. If you've got the time and the talent, anything could be done though!

That's what the original plan was but I REALLY don't want to go through this whole thread and delete stuff.
PLEASE EVERYONE JUST USE THIS THREAD FOR INFO, NOT FOR ASKING QUESTIONS!!!

Gentlemen,
OZMAN has sent me these pics of his E16 race engine. Wow, have you ever seen such a beautifully detailed E-engine?
He used a sheet for a nice clean backround for the photo too. First class!
OZMAN, give us the details and story on this baby!
Thanks guys,I started with a junkyard motor i bought for 50 bucks
I fitted it with a set of Nismo pistons, crower rods, and a balanced and micropolished crank, the engine machining, was done by engine tech, next was the Nismo oil pan try to find one of those.the whole motor was magnafluxed for stress cracks,it all checked in specs, then I installed a Nismo high volume oil pump,Nismo head gasket, and a euro head wich had a lot of porting and polishing done, double valve springs,Nismo cam redone by web cam,and a set of weber DCOE40mm SIDEDRAFTS.I had the valve cover and cam gear chrome plated. The header is a pace setter armor coated but had to be fabricated to fit under the oil pan.Believe it or not this motor holds a total of ten quarts of oil,I am also using a one quart Nismo oil cooler. The finished product 167hp at 7600 rpm and 7 thousand dollars later.alot of money but well worth it,Its different.Hopefully the car should be finished this year,Thanks for posting the pics BLOWNB310.

***** You're more than welcome. Thanks for filling us in with the engine specs. It sounds like you had the engine on a dyno? Or is that an estimate of the power? It sounds correct to me. I am wondering if you will have enough ground clearance with the redesigned header. That rare Nismo oil pan was intended to be used with the Nismo header, which wrapped around the front side of the engine [and just cleared the Nismo narrow crank and water pump pulleys]. Have you decided on a clutch yet? When are you going to drop that awesome engine into your B11? I have an extra set of the Nismo B11 performance engine mounts if you need them. PM me if you do.
The header I have on is just a test header when i had it on the dyno,I am currently using a Nismo clutch cover and disc, but i just found out centerforce makes a new dfx kit for it, its dual friction too.I already have the nismo mounts, good looking out.If you know anyone selling the special header let me know if not i have to fab one up.
The chassis is at the rollcage shop after that,to tha paint shop to get painted 2001 lotus red. After all thats done the puzzle slowly goes back together
Hey blown310, you mentioned NISMO pistons in one of your prior posts. They are not listed in the catalog. Are they for the E series or for another Nissan engine and they just happen to work in the E series?
BTW, sweet engine dude! I am almost done installing my mostly stock E16i w/Euro cam into my 87 Pulsar. Can't wait to see how the cam does. I will eventually put a header on it to complement the custom exhaust already on the car.

***** Wow, you're right, they're not in the catalog anymore. They were in fact for the E-series engine. They looked identicle to the E15ET pistons. They probably were. The difference would have been that when used with the E16 crank they were high compression, and with shorter throw the E15ET crank, they were low compression. Last time I bought them was back in '94. The part # was 12010-13M22 for the standard bore, and 12010-13M24 for the .5mm [.020"] over pistons. I'd give Motorsport a call anyway, and ask if there are any left. Phone# [310]538-2610.

****** Thanks, but the engine I think you were looking at is OZMANS E16. I just posted the pics for him.
you could always try nissan dealer to confirm the part number with the 83 E15T piston to see if they are the same and if they are theyre 80$can each (shipped from
Japan)
I called nissan : heres wath they told me
12010-13m22 still in japan must have a few in stock ...
but the E15et piston is 17m12 std and 17m13 .020 over...
So no they're the same piston ... ive read somewhere that with E16 crank youll need to trim the E15et piston crown to clear deck height... i wouldnt try it .. since they quoted me 76$/piston shipped from japan

How about a blower for your E16? I almost finished this project a few years ago, but then ran into a snag. What you see here is a KF Industries 70 c.i. two-lobe roots blower unit. This unit is sold as a universal piece of speed equiptment, that requires you to fabricate all of the necessary parts to install it yourself. I started out by designing and building the blower drive system. I decided to use a genuine Nissan timing belt for the job. I utilized a stock E16 cam timing sprocket. I needed to attach it to the crank damper. I picked out the lightweight single groove v-belt pulley from the Motorsport catalog. as shown.
Next, had my Dad machine a steel spacer to graft the timing gear to the flange of the pulley.
Then I could install the three tapered allen screws to attach the cam gear to the spacer. An extra length crank damper bolt clamps it all together.
Next, I had to start fabbing the blower intake.
I used 3/16" aluminum plate, and machined out the ports openings and drilled the mounting holes. Next I sawed off the flange from a stock E16 intake to mate to the intake plenum. I cut out some gussets for rgidity as well. I test fitted it to an E16 that was sitting in an '87 sport coupe I had. Clearance to the fireall was extremely close. The heater hoses would have to be re-routed. In any case, when I has everything the way I liked it, I took the manifold to my heliarc man. He looked it over and said that the thickness of the aluminum plate I used was insufficient. He told me it would have warped from the heat of the welding. I realized he was right. I should have made it out of a least 1/4" thick stock or more. At that point I ran out of steam on the project. But all is not lost. I have new plans to start over and install this blower on my '84 CA20 engine. Stay tuned.....
That is downright ingenious. Can't wait to see how the CA20E takes to the blower. How much PSI does that thing generate?
I'm not finding many people in the worldwide Nissan community that have alot of fait in the strength of the CA20 bottom end. Then again, all the nay sayers have never actually worked with the engine.

Nice stuff indeed... and you could probably use twin carb (draw-throu) with it !! like i said to you Blown, some time ill get to your house again and i will want to see that thing running !!
