The Nissan Pulsar was introduced in 1983, the year after the Sentra was introduced. Both cars used the same essential platform: Same powertrain, same suspension...but were of course different in purpose.
The 1983-1986 Pulsars were known as the KN12 body style: Technically four-seater, sporty design, pop-up headlights and offered with an optional sunroof, automatic transmission and air-conditioning. These Pulsars used the E15/E16 carbureted engines, with some few models having been made with the E15et turbocharged, multi-port fuel injected engine.
When the Sentra faced a complete redesign in 1987, the Pulsar followed: Now, the KN13 Pulsar NX could be had with the same pop-up headlights and other accouterments that made the previous Pulsars, PLUS: Standard t-tops. In addition, the owner was faced with the options of (a) either the E16i throttle-body injected engine (XE model) or the twin-cam CA16DE engine (SE model) , as well as (b) the addition of a new "Sportbak" hatch to further utilitize the car and appeal to a wider market. In 1989 the engine platforms changed: Either the GA16i 12-valve throttle-body injected engine or the CA18DE, an enlarged version of the CA16DE. This continued into 1990.
In 1991, the Sentra/Pulsar again were redesigned, but the Pulsar's moniker was dropped, rendering the car as the KN14 "NX". The pop-up headlights disappeared, but the t-tops were retained. The NX1600 version sported a twin-cam GA16DE engine, featuring a variable-timing controlled intake camshaft, and the NX2000 offered up the SR20DE twin-cam, an engine which has become somewhat legendary in Nissan hotrodding circles.

The CA18 was became available for the pulsar's in '88 and I believe the NX 1600's and 2000's are actuallyjust N14's and we never got the KN14, I'm pretty sure about that but not absolutely positive.

Sorry dude, pretty sure on this one. I don't know what newer pulsars look like, but I'm almost certain that the QG18DE gives out 90kw stock. If your car is small and light, that's pretty good. Otherwise, not so hot.
What kind of celica where you asking aboot in that other thread?

does anyone know all the models and makes that the pulsar came in???
Well actually that does depend on where you live. To North Americans a Pulsar is the little car with pop up headlights that shares nearly everything with the Sentra. To places like Australia (that has no Sentra) a Pulsar is something completely different. The Pulsar is called EXA over there. And In Europe I think the term Pulsar is used for the Pulsar GTiR. Nissan is very confusing. They should use the same name everywhere. The first time I saw a 2000 model Pulsar I was like "What the hell? That looks like a regular sedan. I didn't think they made Pulsars anymore." I guess in Australia the Pulsar is their Sentra and their EXA is our Pulsar?
In Europe the Pulsar is called Sunny. Your Sentra is our Bluebird I think. The Australian N12 Pulsar is called Cherry in Europe. Some models: 1.3 LX, 1.6 SLX, 1.6 GTi, 4x4....

3-door model Pulsars are called here Sunny, as well as 4-door Sentras are here also called Sunny. There wasn't any comparable model in US to our Bluebird
