Hello All:

Anybody know the difference between the two types of distributors used on the E16i engines? If I recall correctly, one is a Hitachi, and one is a Mitsubishi. Outside of the obvious differences, is one better than the other? Is one better for performance?? Are they interchangable?

There indeed are two different distributors used on the TBI E-series engines; What advantage there is of either of the two over the other is unknown. All I know is that (a) They seem to interchange without modification and/or ill-effect, and (b) they're both relatively trashy (Compared to the vacuum-advance 'breakerless-ignition' distributors of the early E-series motors). But we're stuck using them...
