What did it do when (if) you tried to restart it? Did you check to see if you had a spark? Can you hear relays clicking? Did your light go out too? Please provide specifics, its hard enough to troubleshoot without the car in staring at you in the face.
THANX SLACKY, I WAS IN A RUSH!
-turns over
-no power to fuel pump
-repeatedly blows a fuse near the battery
-smoked on passenger sidetoward rear
-ignition is shot

By 'ignition is shot', does that mean you get no spark? And when you talk about smoke coming from the right rear of the car, I bet ya dollars to donuts that either your fuel pump's fried or ya got a big short to it. That's why your fuse keeps blowing...
Check the fusible links on the battery + terminal, check the underhood fuses and how they're labelled and replace as necessary...but trace that circuit to see if either the wire to the fuel pump's shorted or the fuel pump siyonara'd. Best to ya...

id lift the back seat ... water keep getting under it if you got a bad seal or such .. and rust the wires going to the fuel pump ... that might blow some fuses and/or the EFI relay id check that before doing anything else ... unplug it and check for shorts on circuit

When the fuel pump in my Sentra went, it kept blowing the fuse in the fuse panel under the dash. Turned out the pump motor was shorted out. I doubt that you could have a short back there on the pump circuit that would cause smoke without blowing a fuse first. Unless somebody replaced a fuse with a higher rating or something ? Sounds like you have got a major short of some kind there. Would probably be a good thing for you to obtain a service manual so you can start tracing out some of that wiring.
what do u mean died? how did it die? sputterd and died, instant shut off. will it turn over and if it does will it pop
My 87 Pulsar lots of problems. Much timing belt issues done $$$. Day after I picked it up from garage ticking noise started, then just cut out. Started again and then cut out. Won't run. Yes it popped like a back fire.
