Yup! You are right, one is the Fast Idle control Device, and the other is the idle air control valve... basically the air passes through the tunnel there (with the turbo hooked up) and the amount of air that passes through sends measurements to the computer and cause it to adjust the air/mixture and idle settings... If you are using the E15T harness to set up your turbo... you will need these... If you are going to use the GA16DE harness to set these up... then you won't need them... I just cut out part of the tube so I wouldn't have it sitting there doing nothing.

This looks like an easier swap than a ca18det, at least from an electronics standpoint. It looks like you don't have to install the entire car's harness.

I was looking at Danny's CA18DET -> B12 swap yasterday, and there are aspects of it that are easier ( perhaps ) Some things I know are going to be exciting still.

I haven't finished identifying all the ga16de engine harness components.

** Superhatch...
so I don't need to hookup the FICD/ Air regulator or Idle control valve? I have the ga16de harness and there are connections for those things.

I haven't looked into getting power to the new ECU or the electric in tank fuel pump. But i have a cirkit boss so running always on or switched power is easy.

no progress to speak of.

Since last time i have done:
Got sr20 TB ( have no idea if this even will work. )
Found Fuel Pump ( thanks MinuteRiceSentra! )

spent too much time and money making an adaptor for my weber 32/36 DGxV carb to put on the datsun ( since the nissan is going turbo might as well use it )
check it out here: datsun1200.com

Still haven't gotten the SAFC-II i ordered on ebay. this guy lags! He seems to eventually ship everything, just slowly and without any communication.

Made the datsun's tranny mad at me again. 1-2 syncros are bratty ( please get better again i don't want to have the tranny overhuled now. )

Anyone got access to machine tools? lathe, mill... parts are way too hard to make with a file and a dremel and drill press

Weather pak connectors ( ford? perhaps ) is there an easy source for these? like somewhere i can order them online...

something else too, but the phone rang and i forgot it now.

i was doing some studying on the sr20 tb swap and it seems that if u have the 91-94 ga setup it should work jsut fine. i also read of someone swaping over the tps and making it work on a 95+ sentra.

I should be able to make an adaptor plate if needed, it'll be easier than the carb adaptor i made.

Anyone know where on the ga16de the resistor/capacitor thingy is? I haven't been able to find one on an actual car, got the HVC and power transistor.

^^^ it's attached to the wiring harness it's a little black thingy.

update:

Well still don't have the SAFCII, but i'm in on the group buy here to get one, since my ebay sale flaked one me, but i got my money back.

Got the weber 32/36 DGAV put on the datsun and it works. Hella fast for a 1.5l good noise from the carb too. yay! never thought i'd get it done.

Started looking at the GA16DE wiring harness again. Verified most of my previous connector ID's

Questions: ( if these questions are answered in the E16>MPFI then tell me... )

1. On my GA16 harness the thing i suspect to be the TPS connector is RED,WHITE,GREY. The wiring diagram lists it and RED-YELLOW,WHITE,GREY.
I did some checking and I think i ID'd the right part.

2. Why do some color codes not match my wiring diagram?

3. Things I don't need to hookup:
FICD SOL
Air Regulator SOL
AAC SOL
VTC SOL
EGR SOL

4. What is this Exhaust gas sensor? supposedly a white wire...

5. I have a connector with a black wire and Lt-Blue wire near those other things mentioned in #3 what is it? is it the fan relay #2?

6. Where is the fuel pump relay? I think i have to add it, if so where does it go?
^^ answered in the e16s > mpfi thread.. what does it hook to??

7. Where do i give the ECU power?
^^ answered in the e16s > mpfi thread..

8. what is the little 6 connector plug for?

9. what is that plug with around 20 wires next to the ecu for?

Lets see...
I have to make a call to see if i can get fresh FI plugs, it's kinda sad to put old ones on a new harness

Got an SR20 TB gonna see if i can make it work instead of the RB30 TB.

gonna print a copy of the SAFCII install and the E16MPFI how to and try to answer some of my own ??'s

*sigh... more adventures

Exclamation Parts Sources:

I'm putting a together a list of where to get hard to find bits.

Fuel Injector Plugs:

STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS PN: SK25
Beck/Arnley 1580400 ( better grade ) $8.79
Beck/Arnley 1580017 ( cheaper grade ) $6.49
^^ MSD makes them too, but they're expensive and no better than the others.

Weatherpak connectors
Summit racing has them, they make them hard to find, but search for MSD-XXXX where XXXX is the PN below.

1-Pin w/Pins and Seals PN 8174
2-Pin w/Pins and Seals PN 8173
3-Pin w/Pins and Seals PN 8172
4-Pin w/Pins and Seals PN 8171
6-Pin w/Pins and Seals PN 8170
10-Pin w/Pins and Seals PN 8190 - MALE
10-Pin w/Pins and Seals PN 8191 - FEMALE

ok I got the FI connectors. These ones are much nicer than the old style ones, they are easy to take on and off.. Cut the old ones off the GA16harness and soldered new ones on, shrink wrapped em and put zip-tie tags on them. wires are currently vert long, i'll shorten them when I get things running.

I only need 1 weatherpak connector, a 4 conductor pair, so i'll probably bite the bullet and get it at schlep boyz.

I have made paragraphs out of the e16>mpfi thing now and it mostly makes sense. (when it's done wanna re-post this easier to read version?)

other things on the e15t use those FI connectors too, so you might want more than 4 of em

you're referring to the one that goes from near the FCID/air regulator thing over to what looks like a boost regulator or whatever that is right?

So i'm gonna take all those things off the plenum and make cover plates for em then...

Lightbulb Wire Map progress...

I'm working on the wire map most of the stuff is pretty obvious but the color codes are coming back to annoy again.

My e15t dizy has different colored wires, I'm only sure of 1 of the 4 wires.
( in fact my e16s only has 2 wires, so he's referring to a e16i dizzy or something... )

MY e15t TPS is a 2 wire kind :P didn't know I needed the ga16 TPS.

why doesn't my ga16 harness have a place for the knock sensor? maybe it shouldn't Or for that matter the 'exhaust gas sensor' which uses the same wire. maybe i shouldn't worry so much.

I've mapped which wires need +12 to get the computer running.

waiting...

waiting for:
--------------------------------------------------
4 pin weather pak from summit racing
SAFC-II from group buy ( this may hold things up some )
N12 manual from australia
fuel pump from minutericesnetra
--------------------------------------------------

I should make notes at to the actual colors on the ga16 harness and see if the confusion continues.

I think i might be stuck for a while until these things arrive

got fuel pump

yay!

supposedly the 93 ga16de doesn't have a knock sensor, just like the wiring diagram says.

Wish there was anything i can do to day to make progress on this. well i'll probably go to the JY and try to digure out what those mystery connectors go to.

well what's going on?

waiting on the right N12 manual, seems I was sent the wrong one, but was notified before it arrived...

Got the 4 pin weatherpak connector for the distributor CAS maybe I'll put that on tonight.

Stealing seats out of the b11 to put in the datsun so I can sell the drivers seat.

what's going on now?

Still waiting for the GB on the SAFCII to close... Got the ga16 TPS should see if it will work on the sr20 TB... which i still haven't tried fitting to the e15t.

the other day while browsing datsun 1200.com I found something interesting... e15t powered datsun 210! I have to replace the tranny in my 210 anyways... I wish it was just that easy. I have to put in a higher pressure fuel pump... so I guess it's not quite that easy. but wouldn't that be fun. supposedly the datsun 210 tranny fits there's just 1 bolt that doesn't match.

I was distracted this weekend with stripping all the paint off my datsun and primering it.

I did put a new connector on the e15t dizzy.

too bad this is moving forward so slow. I want a turbo!
