Good afternoon,
My vehicle is...
83 Sentra, E16 with CA emissions, 3 spd auto trans, 160,000 miles
Just recently it started up-shifting prematurely...
- From 1st to 2nd around 10mph and 1800rpm
- From 2nd to 3rd around 18mph and 1800rpm
...shift points are about the same for average acceleration or WOT.
Also, at any speed, if I floor the accelerator the trans will not downshift.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time!

coming from my experience on V8's, sounds like you're linkage from the throttle to the transmission isn't hooked up

Also, check to make sure the kickdown adjusting sleeve/nuts didn't slip off the manifold. The manifold has a bracket that holds the carb end of the kickdown cable, and adjustments are made there. I just hope to God you didn't snap a cable, because they are a relative BITCH to replace!

I worked on the car this weekend, and that was the exact problem. The cable had slipped off the bracket.
