Fuel Filter

Ok, here is a good question for someone to hopefully answer.

Looking for fuel filter for my pulsar (87 e16i) and it woudl take almost a week to get and about $16....or the filter for the ca16de is in stock and about $11. So is there anything saying that i can't use the ca16de filter?? does anyone know here?

I was also thinking that i could just get a really good inline filter from summitracing also and just use that...

I don't see why you couldn't use the one from a CA, that's wierd that you can't find the filter you need. But I'm not an expert on fuel filters or anything.

I would imagine you could use it. If the inlet/outlet are same diameter as the old, and the size of the filter doesn't interfere with anything under the hood, I'd say "Go for it!"

The only caveat here: Is the CA16DE filter metal (good) or plastic (NOT good)? Settle for metal; Nothing else will do!

They are all metal...i haven't seen a plastic filter in a very long time..which is good, they dont last long under the hood

If you're talking about fuel injection filters, I see your point; They must be made of metal to withstand the pressures. However, I haven't seen a fuel filter for the carbureted Sentras/Pulsars that isn't plastic. They're plastic and usually say "Made in Israel" on 'em.

I've never seen a carbureted sentra What i dont like about the cheap plastic ones is the heat gets to them and they have a tendency to crack after awhile

realistically, you can use most metal filters with the appropriate ends in pretty much any application. Not on crazy turbo cars and whatnot, but a filter designed for FI will work fine on a carb car. use good judgment, pick one of a comprable size ( biger won't hurt )
