I have no idea weither my car is TBI or 2BL <-- dont know what that means. I look my VIN up at carfax.com and the only information it gave me is its a 1.6L (great...) I wanted to change the oil, spark plugs, and air filter. I dont know enough about the engine and was wondering if I could get some help on this one. Also i search this forum for maintainance but didnt find anything. Any suggestions?
There are a couple ways to tell. If your car is all original look at the ID plate in the engine compartment on it you will see E16i (injected) or E16s (carbureted). Or remove the air cleaner (one nut - carb, two -inj) then look down the center of the air passage - is there a single circular piece centered in the passage (injector) or two smaller passages inside the larger one. Hope this helps.
From the information you gave me its injected, wooo hooo. So i guess I can use some injector cleaner in the gas tank right? What else should I do to the car? What is that cotton thing in the air cleaner, is that the air breather?
that cotton piece is the PCV filter, make sure it's not soaking in oil(that would mean a bad PCV valve), it also wouldn't be a bad idea to do an oil change, and get new air filter, fuel filter, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, timing check, idle check, injector cleaner is fine, also might want to check your valve clearance if you need to replace the valve cover gasket.

funny that you mention that, my valve cover is leaking oil and the PCV filter is oily
