It's a CA20E, SOHC eight-valve engine with about 96hp. Same basic lower end as the CA16DE, CA18ET, CA18DE, CA18DET. Has a larger bore and longer stroke than the 1.6 and 1.8 liter cousins but all those motors will swap in nicely. If your tranny bolts up to say a CA18DET then you have no problems. However, if you use and S13 tranny it will end up being a bit short, both in shifter placement and driveshaft length.

I'm not sure if the S12 tranny bolts right up. There's some guys on NICO forums that were gonna try it but haven't seen the results yet.

the flywheel's the missing link after what I've heard.

the CA20E (and other non-twincam CA's) got 8 bolts on the flywheel, the CA18DET has 12.

the clean blocks are identical, so it's a bolt on on the tranny that way.

Twelve bolts? where exactly? My DET and DE have 8 bolts holding the flywheel to the crank. Here's a little 200sx specific info- http://www.club-s12.org/board/index.php?
