Help!! Engine Cuts Out!
I have an 87 Sentra. The problem is, that awhile back, I notice that when in gear, (I have a Manual Tranny), the engine would act like it would want to cut out once. I would take it out of gear, and give it a little gas, and that would correct the problem. But it started getting worse and worse. One day, I was in gear, and it started to bog down, and just quit on me. So, I took it out of gear and restarted it. It was going fine, then all of a sudden, it did it again. This time though, it took a few cranks to get it going. Well, it happened again and again, on my way home. I would let the engine crank for about 1 minute, because it would act like it wouldn't even want to catch, like it wasn't getting any gas, but it was. It would finally start, and if I let it idle to long without putting it in gear, the engine would cut right out as soon as I disengaged my foot from the clutch to put it in gear. Then, I would crank it again, which at first it would act like it wanted to start, then wouldn't start at all, then if i kept it cranking for a minute, it would finally get to an area where it would start to catch again, then finally it would start. In order to get anywhere, I had to IMMEDIATELY throw it into first and get going, cuz in just a few minutes of good engine running, it would go back to bogging down again. Now, if I just let it idle, it's almost as if the engine has a cycle to it. Maybe bad timing? It would be running great, then start to bog down, and if I kept pumping the gas, it would climb out of its bogging down, and run good for another couple minutes, and then it would do the same all over again. Has anyone else ever had this problem? The carburetor is definitely getting fuel, so I know that's not the problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanx.
